Review
Lately, I haven’t read the best books. But I think I am finding the right books for me again, because the last two books I read (includng this one) and the book I am currently reading are pretty good. I am enjoying all of them. I think this is the first time I read a book by Cara Bastone. But I always love to discover new amazing authors.
Oh god, this book was the perfect combination of sadness and happiness. Lenny just lost her best friend Lou. They met when they were just five years old and now she has to live without her. She is lost and is too scared to go to their apartment. She ihas been sleeping anywhere but at her apartment. Lately she has been sleeping on the ferry. I really felt the sadness and the grief she was going trhough. This book made me cry a few times.
Miles is the main male character and he is just wonderful. He is absolutely not perfect and has his own struggles that he also needs help with. But he is pretty great. And Lenny and Miles are becoming really great friends. They were feeling very comfortable around each other. I loved that.
Even though, the storyline is about grief and losing someone special, there is room for romance. I would say that 3/4 of this book is about Lenny grieving and Miles is helping her. I would describe the last part of this book as more uplifting and their connection becomes stronger. Lenny is also starting to feel more happy feelings, besides just grieving.
And while I am writing this, I am trying to think of things that I did not like, but honestly nothing is coming to mind. I definitely understand the reason why it gets such a high score (4.27 as I am writing this) on Goodreads. And right now, I am just thinking that I should also read Cara’s other books.
Yes, this book is a little sad, but at the same time is also a beautiful story. I can highly recommend this.
