Every new year brings that feeling of wanting to reset, to slow down, breathe, and make life a little lighter. After years of chasing trends, multitasking, and filling our lives with more, I think 2026 should be the year of less. Less pressure. Less noise. Less “shoulds.” More calm. More clarity. More space for the things that actually make you feel good. Here’s how I want to simplify my life in 2026 — gentle steps that help create peace, balance, and freedom.

How To Simplify Your Life in 2026

1. Spend Less Time on Screens
I’ll be honest: it’s not always easy to spend more time offline. Apps are addictive, and before you know it, 30 minutes are gone. My screen time used to be around five hours a day, and I know many people have even higher numbers. Imagine what you could do with those hours if you cut back. You could actually start working on your dreams, career, or hobbies. What if you spent two hours reading instead of scrolling? You’d finish so many books in a year.

2. Say No to Things You Don’t Like
Sometimes we say yes to things we don’t even want to do. Sure, there are moments when you have no choice, but most of the time, you do. If someone asks you to go shopping but you’ve had a busy week and just want to crash on the couch with a book, tell them. You don’t have to please everyone by always saying yes. Protect your time and peace. If you don’t want to do something, or don’t have the energy, it’s okay to say no.

3. Get Rid of Things You Don’t Use or Need
Most of us own way too much stuff. Do you really need 20 lipsticks or that gadget you used once and then forgot about? Life feels lighter when you only keep what you truly use or love. Your home will feel calmer, and you’ll have less to clean, which is a total win-win.

4. Buy Less Stuff
There’s a trend on social media that’s not doing us any favors and it is buying things just because they’re trending. One month it’s Stanley cups, the next it’s something else. Often we buy not because we need it, but because it feels like everyone else is doing it. In 2026, try buying less. You’ll save money and can spend it on experiences instead like a concert or a trip with friends.

One trick that helps me: when I see something I want, I take a screenshot and wait a month. If I still love it and can’t stop thinking about it, I’ll consider buying it. Most of the time, I lose interest.

5. Declutter and Organize Your Digital Space
Simplicity isn’t just about your home, it’s also about your phone, laptop, and inbox. Unsubscribe from emails you never read, delete unused apps, organize your photos, and tidy up your digital space. A clear digital space equals a clearer mind. Try doing this regularly, maybe once a week, to make room for more mental calm.

6. Simplify Your Beauty Routine
You don’t need a 10-step skincare routine or drawers full of products. A few good-quality essentials are enough. Let your skin breathe, embrace your natural look, and save both time and money. You basically need a facewash, moisturizer, sunscreen and maybe make-up and that is it. Using too many products is actually bad for your skin.

7. Embrace Single Tasking
We glorify multitasking, but it often leaves us feeling scattered and drained. Try focusing on one thing at a time, read without checking your phone, cook without watching Netflix, walk without earbuds. Doing one thing with intention feels surprisingly peaceful. Try to live in the moment and enjoy what you’re doing right now.

8. Slow Down
Not everything needs to be rushed. Slow mornings, slow walks, slow meals, that’s where calm lives. In 2026, I want to move through life with more ease, enjoying the journey instead of sprinting through it. We live in a world where everyone’s constantly rushing, and we forget to enjoy the small moments. Slow down and breathe.

9. Simplify Your Wardrobe
This is one of my personal goals for 2026. I love fashion, but sometimes I buy clothes just for the sake of buying them. Months later, they’re still unworn. Now I’m building a wardrobe full of things I truly love, pieces that make me feel good every time I wear them.

10. Add More Stillness
Simplicity isn’t only about removing things. It’s also about creating space for quiet. Spend a few minutes each day doing nothing: no phone, no to-do list, no noise. Just breathe and be. That’s where peace begins. I love these little mindful moments. I usually make a cup of tea, sit down, and enjoy it. It’s my small, peaceful ritual.

The post How to Simplify Your Life in 2026 first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The post How to Simplify Your Life in 2026 first appeared on Bettie Toon.

Narcissism has become a buzzword in recent years, often thrown around to describe selfish or arrogant behavior. But true narcissism—especially Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)—is much deeper and more damaging than the occasional ego trip. Narcissists can be charming, intelligent, and persuasive, making them hard to identify at first. But beneath the surface lies a pattern of manipulation, lack of empathy, and a need to control. Recognizing these traits is the first step toward protecting yourself.

Here’s a detailed guide to recognizing narcissistic behavior—whether it’s in a partner, friend, family member, or even a coworker.

How to Recognize a Narcissist: 25 Key Signs

They always turn the conversation back to themselves: Even when you’re going through something serious, they manage to make it about them.

They crave admiration constantly: Compliments aren’t just nice to them—they’re like oxygen. They need constant validation.

They lack real empathy: They might say the right words, but it feels cold or performative. True compassion is missing.

They gaslight you: They’ll deny things they said or did, twist your words, or make you question your memory and sanity.

They get angry when criticized: Even gentle or constructive criticism can trigger defensiveness, rage, or silent treatment.

They have a grandiose sense of self: They see themselves as more important, special, or unique than others—often without anything to back it up.

They exploit others for personal gain: Whether it’s emotional support, money, or attention, they take without giving back.

They envy others—or think others envy them: Narcissists often feel jealous and threatened by others’ success, or assume people are jealous of them.

They create drama and chaos: Narcissists thrive in toxic dynamics. Calm and stability make them feel irrelevant.

They manipulate through guilt and pity: They play the victim to control how you react and keep you emotionally hooked.

They lack long-term friendships: Most of their relationships are superficial, short-lived, or purely transactional.

They dominate conversations and interrupt constantly: Your feelings or opinions are rarely truly heard or respected.

They use love bombing early on: In romantic relationships, they may shower you with affection and gifts early on to gain control.

They triangulate: They’ll pit people against each other—bringing up others to make you feel insecure or jealous.

They can’t handle being wrong: Admitting fault? Never. It’s always someone else’s problem.

They change personas depending on the audience: They may act sweet in public but cruel or cold behind closed doors.

They blame others for their failures: They rarely take accountability. If something goes wrong, someone else caused it.

They view relationships as transactional: People are tools to get what they want—not connections to nurture.

They push boundaries repeatedly: Even if you say “no,” they’ll keep testing your limits and disrespecting your space.

They lie frequently: Even small lies, especially ones that protect their image or confuse others.

They isolate you from others: They may subtly discourage you from seeing friends or family, making you more dependent on them.

They have no real sense of self: Their identity shifts based on who they’re around. Deep down, they’re often insecure.

They weaponize your vulnerabilities: The things you’ve shared in confidence may be used against you later.

They demand special treatment: Rules don’t apply to them. They expect exceptions and feel entitled.

They rarely show genuine remorse: Apologies, if they happen, are usually shallow or come with excuses.

How to Deal With a Narcissist

Dealing with a narcissist requires strong boundaries. First, educate yourself and recognize that you are not responsible for fixing or changing them. Minimize emotional reactions—they feed off them. Set firm limits, stick to them, and don’t explain or justify your choices endlessly. If possible, limit contact or go “no contact” entirely, especially if the relationship is toxic or abusive. Therapy (especially trauma-informed therapy) can be crucial if you’ve been affected by a narcissist long-term. Your peace of mind is more important than preserving a harmful connection.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent way too many hours scrolling TikTok, getting lost in the Pinterest black hole, or binge-watching videos on YouTube. Don’t get me wrong—I love all those things (especially Pinterest; it’s my happy place ), but recently, I realized that I’m living way more online than in real life. And honestly? It’s exhausting.

So, I’ve been trying to find a balance and spend less time glued to my screen. Spoiler alert: it’s not easy, but it’s SO worth it. Here’s what’s been working for me:

How to Spend Less Time Online

1. Create a Cute Offline Routine

I started by building an offline routine that feels as fun and aesthetic as my online life. Think:

Waking up early enough to have a slow, cozy morning (Tea + journaling = chef’s kiss).

Picking out a cute outfit and actually putting it on, even if I’m just staying home.

Taking walks to get fresh air and clear my mind—nature is the ultimate vibe.

I also started using CDs again because this way I don’t have to use Spotify all the time.

When your offline life feels good, you’re less tempted to escape into the digital world.

2. Set “No-Screen” Zones

I’ve banned screens from my bed. It was hard at first because, hello, scrolling TikTok at 11 PM is not so great for my sleep routine. So now I turn off all of the screens two hours before I go to sleep. Instead, I mostly read books, but sometimes I want to journal before bed time. But I make sure I don’t use any screens in my bedroom.

3. Find Hobbies That Don’t Involve Wi-Fi

Remember hobbies? I recently picked up my ukulele again (it was collecting dust, oops) and started playing around with it. I also got back into reading and making mood boards in real life. It’s been such a nice break from staring at a screen. I really love reading before bedtime. But last Sunday, I just decided to read all day long and I wasn’t even missing my phone at all. I was just enjoying my offline. Fun thing is that it felt like I had more hours in a day.

4. Time Limits = Lifesaver

I use the screen time setting on my phone to remind me when I’ve been on apps for too long. It’s like having a mini accountability buddy in my pocket. Some days I ignore it (oops), but most of the time, it helps me snap out of my scrolling spiral. Sometimes I allow myself to spend 20 minutes on social and I stick to it. I have now a better relationship with social media and I just feel better in general.

5. Romanticize Being Offline

This one’s my favorite. I try to make my offline time feel special. I light candles, put on soft music, and spend time doing little things that make me happy—like journaling, organizing my space, or even just sipping tea by the window. Or I just decide to read all day. Or I just go out for a walk and enjoy being outside, maybe get some fresh flowers.

6. Reward Yourself

Lastly, I make deals with myself. If I stay off my phone for an hour, I’ll treat myself to a face mask or a yummy snack. It’s like gamifying my offline time, and it totally works. But I think once you go offline more often, you will realize it is actually nice to be offline. And I think that feeling more relaxed without your screen is already a reward itself.

The result?

I still have a long way to go, but I’m already feeling more present and less overwhelmed. Plus, I’ve noticed that I actually enjoy my online time more when I’m not on my phone 24/7.

If you’re thinking about spending less time online, I’d say go for it! Start small and focus on what feels good to you.

2025 is here, and it’s our year. It’s the year we stop just dreaming about our goals and actually make them happen. Whether you want to hit those career milestones, improve your health, find love, or finally start that side hustle, this is your sign to go for it. Let’s break it down into bite-sized, doable steps to achieve all your goals this year.

How to Achieve Your Goals in 2025

1. Get Crystal Clear on What You Want

First things first: write down your goals. Not just in your head—actually write them down. Be specific! Instead of saying, “I want to get in shape,” try, “I want to work out 3 times a week and feel confident in my favorite jeans.” Specific goals make it easier to track progress. If you want, you can set goals for every area in your life: body, work, relationships, and home.

2. Create a Vision Board

Nothing makes goals feel real like seeing them every day. Use Pinterest or grab some magazines and create a physical vision board. Include photos, quotes, and anything that inspires you. Put it somewhere you’ll see often (desk, fridge, or even as your phone wallpaper). I personally love creating vision boards. I spend some time on Pinterest and find photos that reflects my goal, with Canva I create a desktop wallpaper and every time I have to work, I see my vision board. It helps me to stay focused.

3. Break It Down

Big goals can feel overwhelming, so break them into smaller, actionable steps. Want to save $1000? Divide it by 12 months, and suddenly, it’s a lot less scary. Tackling small steps feels good and keeps you motivated. You can set smaller monthly/weekly goals to help you to stay focused. Plus, your brain releases dopamine every time you achieve something, which makes you feel good.

4. Build a Routine That Supports Your Goals

Your daily habits determine your success. If you want to write a book, block time each day to write—even if it’s just 15 minutes. Want to improve your health? Meal prep or schedule your workouts like you would any important meeting. And of course, stick to your new routine and don’t go back to your old routine. If you want a different result, then you have to do something new.

5. Stay Accountable

Share your goals with a friend, family member, or even your followers on social media. Accountability makes a huge difference. If you’re brave, post updates regularly and celebrate your wins. You might inspire others to go after their goals too! If you want to write a book, start a social media account and share the progress of your book.

6. Learn to Pivot

Life happens. Maybe you’ll need to tweak your goals or adjust your timeline—and that’s okay! Being flexible doesn’t mean giving up. It means you’re adaptable and still moving forward. Maybe something will happen, but it will improve your whole life. You never know what is going to happen. Just go with the flow.

7. Reward Yourself

Celebrate every milestone, big or small. Finished a month of consistent workouts? Treat yourself to a new outfit. Reached a savings goal? Do something fun. Rewards keep the process fun and exciting. You don’t have to go all out to celebrate achieving your goals. You can also celebrate it by drinking a glass of (non-alcoholic) wine or asking your friend for a movie night.

8. Visualize and Manifest

Spend a few minutes each day imagining your dream life. Feel the emotions as if you’ve already achieved your goals. Manifesting isn’t magic—it’s about aligning your mindset with your desires. I am a big fan of the whole manifesting thing. I will write more about it on my blog soon.

9. Take Care of Yourself

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Prioritize rest, eat nourishing food, and take mental health breaks when you need them. Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. This is the first step actually if you want to improve your life. Put your phone away 1 or 2 hours before going to bed, so you can have a great night of sleep. Eat healthier (which doesn’t mean you have to eat healthy all the time), go out for a walk, and take a nap when you need it. When you feel good, you will have more energy to take action.

10. Reflect and Adjust

Check in with yourself regularly. What’s working? What’s not? Reflection helps you stay on track and avoid burnout. It’s okay to change your goals if they no longer feel aligned. It is not a sign of failure. It is realizing that something else makes you feel better and happier.

Final Thoughts

Achieving your goals doesn’t mean working yourself to the bone. It’s about finding balance, staying consistent, and remembering why you started in the first place. 2025 is going to be full of growth, opportunities, and wins for you. I can already feel it.

Now go out there and crush it! What’s the first goal you’re tackling? Let me know in the comments below. Let’s hold each other accountable!

Happy New Year, everyone! The calendar has flipped, and just like that, it’s officially 2025. There’s something so exciting about that blank slate vibe, isn’t there? It’s a fresh start to dream big, set some goals, and live out all those things you’ve been hoping for. So, here’s to making this year the year! Below are a few tips for taking 2025 and making it the best one yet, and don’t worry—they’re totally doable.

How to Make 2025 the Best Year of Your Life

1. Dream BIG (Like, Bigger Than You Think!)

This is your year to stop holding back on what you want. Whatever it is—a new job, your dream body, massive social media goals, traveling more, or building a solid friend group that feels like family—now’s the time to get real about it. Think about the things that make your heart race just a little because they’re so exciting, but maybe a bit intimidating. Write ‘em all down! This isn’t the year for “safe” goals; go wild with it. This is the year that you are going after the things you want.

2. Be That Consistent Person

Okay, consistency might sound boring, but it’s the real secret sauce to leveling up this year. Whether it’s posting on TikTok every day, hitting the gym, or spending time on a new skill, you’ll get so much closer to your goals just by showing up regularly. Don’t feel like posting today? Do it anyway. Tired of working out? Put on your sneakers and go. Consistency is where the magic happens, even if you don’t see it right away. Make a (realistic) schedule for yourself and take a step towards your goals every single day. No matter how small the step is.

3. Get Serious About Self-Care

Listen, burnout is real. And if you’re not taking care of yourself, reaching those big dreams will be way harder. Start the year off with some self-care habits that you’ll stick with: get enough sleep, drink that water, move your body, and find time to unplug and recharge. Plus, self-care isn’t just a trend—it’s a necessity for feeling your best and staying in the game all year long. If you are taking care of yourself, you will have more energy, motivation and better focus. Which you can use to achieve those goals.

4. Visualize It Like You Already Have It

I know this might sound a bit “woo-woo,” but bear with me. Visualization is no joke. Close your eyes, and picture yourself achieving your goals. Imagine what it’ll feel like to reach them. Visualizing your goals every day keeps you focused and gives you that boost to keep going, even when it gets tough. It’s like a daily reminder of why you’re putting in the work. If you need more help with visualizing, creating a vision board with all of your goals might help you. It is also extremely fun to make a vision board. I always get excited.

5. Make Connections That Lift You Up

Surrounding yourself with the right people is everything. This year, put some extra energy into finding friends who genuinely support and inspire you. Reach out to people with similar goals, go to events, or connect with people online. Your crew should hype you up, celebrate your wins, and be there for you when you need them. Positive vibes are contagious, and your support system can make all the difference.

6. Try New Stuff (Even If You’re Nervous)

Comfort zones are nice, but growth happens when you step outside them! Try something new every month this year—whether it’s a hobby, a new way of working out, or even reaching out to brands you admire. Doing things that feel a bit uncomfortable or unfamiliar is a great way to grow, build confidence, and maybe even discover a passion you didn’t know you had. And you can start small of course. Try a recipe that you’ve never tried or compliment someone.

7. Celebrate All the Wins—Big or Small

Making 2025 your best year means acknowledging every step forward, no matter how small. Did you hit a new personal best at the gym? Post more consistently? Celebrate it! The more you celebrate your wins, the more motivated you’ll be to keep going. Besides, you’re putting in the work, so you deserve to enjoy the journey. And how you are going to celebrate it, is obviously up to you. Sometimes I celebrate with just a drink or a slice of pie. Other times, I turn on my favorite music and just have a dance party on my own.

8. Focus on Enjoying the Journey, Not Just the Goal

It’s easy to get so wrapped up in your goals that you forget to have fun along the way. This year, remember to enjoy the process. Every day doesn’t have to be perfect, but if you can find joy in the little things and have fun while working on those big goals, you’ll be living your best life no matter where you are on the journey. Most people are focused on achieving that goal and when they finally achieve that one thing, they want more. They are always focused on the end goal. But it is so important to have fun on your journey. This kind of mindset will also make the whole journey a lot easier.

Alright, here’s to making 2025 the most amazing year yet! This year, let’s be bold, stay consistent, and have the best time while we’re at it. Here’s to growth, good vibes, and making things happen. Let’s make 2025 unforgettable!
