There are several ways to make your life a little easier and better, and one of them is preparing for a new week. Your workweek is usually the busiest part of your schedule, so why not prepare for it during the weekend or even on Friday afternoon?

This way, you’ll have more time in the morning, feel more relaxed, and won’t have to think about everything you need to do. It’s a great way to start your week strong. Of course, not everyone has a 9-to-5 job or weekends off, but you can still use most of Weekly Reset Routine Tips and adapt them to your own schedule.

Weekly Reset Routine

Make a to-do list
I recommend doing this on Friday afternoon, when you’re almost done with your workweek. Write down everything you need to do for the following week and create two categories: one for important/urgent tasks and one for less important tasks. The moment you write everything down, you clear your mind. This means you can start your weekend with a calm head and actually enjoy your days off. Plus, on Monday you immediately know what to focus on, starting with your most important tasks.

Clean your space
Clean your home on the weekend, many people already do this, especially on Sundays. It’s a great habit. When your space is less cluttered and dirty, you feel better mentally. And honestly, there’s nothing better than coming home to a clean house. Most people don’t love cleaning, but you can make it more enjoyable. Listen to your favorite podcast, audiobook, or music. It makes the process more fun. And after you’re done, you can reward yourself.

Prepare your outfits
Imagine waking up and realizing you still have to choose an outfit. For some people, that’s easy, but for others it can take a long time. That’s why it helps to prepare your outfits for the week in advance. This way, you don’t have to think about it in the morning, which saves time and reduces stress.

Set goals
Set SMART goals: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. Don’t set unrealistic goals, like reading for five hours a day when you don’t have the time. You can also set small daily goals. Setting goals helps you stay focused, and achieving them gives you a sense of accomplishment.

Meal planning
A lot of people struggle with deciding what to eat for dinner. When you don’t plan ahead, it’s easy to end up choosing fast or unhealthy food at the last minute. That’s okay sometimes, but not every day. Planning your meals can really help, especially when you’re busy. It often leads to healthier choices. You can even prepare meals in advance so you only have to reheat them.

Take care of yourself
This is something you should prioritize every day. Make sure you get enough sleep, even on weekends, as it gives you more energy. Create an evening routine that helps you fall asleep faster and sleep better. Eat well and move your body. You don’t have to run a marathon or spend hours at the gym; even a simple walk is beneficial.

Plan fun activities regularly
A lot of people live for the weekend. They work Monday through Friday and only make time for fun at the end of the week. I understand that not everyone has the time or money to do something fun every day, but try to plan a few enjoyable activities during the week. This gives you something to look forward to, and fun activities help reduce stress. It doesn’t have to be expensive, you can have a movie night or play board games with friends or family.

Don’t stress too much
Too much stress isn’t healthy, so try to avoid it where you can. Find ways to relax and slow down. You don’t always have to push yourself to work faster and harder. Take your time with your to-do list. Even if you don’t love your job, there are often small ways to make your days feel a little better.

Hey there! Have you ever looked around your living space and felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff lying around? Whether it’s that pile of old magazines you’ve been meaning to recycle, or the closet bursting with clothes you haven’t worn since 2010, we’ve all been there. It’s time to take a deep breath and dive into the wonderful world of decluttering. Trust me, it’s not just about tidying up—decluttering can truly transform your life. Let’s chat about why it’s important and some easy tips to get you started. This is the ultimate guide to decluttering your home

Why should you declutter?

Clear Space, Clear Mind: Ever notice how a messy room can make you feel stressed and anxious? That’s because physical clutter can create mental clutter. Cleaning up your space can help clear your mind, making you feel more relaxed and focused. I know I feel amazing after I clean. Sure, cleaning everything up might not be my favorite task in the world, but the results are pretty amazing.

Boost Productivity: When everything is in its place, it’s so much easier to find what you need and get things done. No more wasting time searching for your keys or that important document! But if you also have less stuff, you will be less distracted as well. So make sure, your home office space is clean and decluttered.

Improve Your Mood: A clean, organized space can make you feel happier and more at peace. Plus, it’s always nice to come home to a tidy environment. I always try to clean everything up immediately. Okay, sometimes I don’t have the energy for it. But I do it as soon as possible. Because a clean and organized home makes me feel a lot better.

Save Money: When you declutter, you often find items you forgot you had. This can prevent you from buying duplicates and help you appreciate what you already own. And when you declutter, you might also realize that you have a lot of stuff and that you don’t need all of this. This happened to me and now I just buy the things I really want or need. But I rarely do any impulse buys.

Enhance Your Home’s Aesthetics: Let’s face it, a clutter-free home looks way better. It can even make your space feel bigger and more welcoming.

The Ultimate Guide to Decluttering Your Home

Start Small: Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to declutter your entire house in one day. Begin with a small area, like a drawer or a shelf. Celebrate your progress and then move on to the next spot. It takes time to declutter everything. Maybe declutter a drawer on a weekday and do the bigger projects on the weekends. You don’t have to declutter everything in an hour. It is a process.

Sort and Conquer: Create three piles: Keep, Donate, and Toss. Be honest with yourself about what you actually use and need. If you haven’t used something in the past year, it’s probably time to let it go. With certain items it is a bit more difficult because it is not like you wear all of your sweaters all year and your Christmas stuff is in boxes for the biggest part of the year. After you might go through your winter clothes and if you haven’t worn it this season, you might consider donating it.

One-In, One-Out Rule: For every new item you bring into your home, try to get rid of one old item. This helps prevent future clutter buildup. Of course, I would recommend to keep one extra of important at the house. You don’t want to be in the shower and realize you are out of shampoo or shower gel. Or find out your toothpaste tube is empty. For this reason, I always keep two of those items at the house, so I am never out.

Use Storage Solutions: Invest in some good storage options like bins, baskets, and shelves. Labeling them can also help keep things organized. And it also looks a lot less messy. Your home or garage will look more organized.

Digital Declutter: Don’t forget about your digital space! Clean up your desktop, organize your files, and unsubscribe from emails you no longer read. You will feel so much better when everything is organized on your computer/phone as well. It is easier to find certain files, which means you are wasting less time.

Make it a Habit: Set aside a little time each day or week for decluttering. Consistency is key to maintaining an organized space. This is totally up to you of course, but I do this every morning or evening. I just love a clean and decluttered home. Plus, if I do it every single day, it is less work than when you only do it once a month or year. For me, it takes maybe 10 minutes a day, not more.

Get the Family Involved: Make decluttering a fun family activity. Teach your kids about the importance of organization and have them help with their own rooms. Because if you are living with other people in a house, you are not the only person who is responsible for the mess. But I know it can be hard to keep your house clean and decluttered when you have children. So remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect all the time.

Sentimental Items: These can be the hardest to part with. If you’re not ready to let go of something, consider taking a photo of it to keep the memory without holding onto the physical item. Do you still need that stroller/buggy when your kid is already 10 years old and you have zero plans for another kid?

Hire Help: If you’re feeling really stuck, don’t hesitate to hire a professional organizer. They can offer great advice and help you tackle the clutter more efficiently. Make sure you find someone who is not going to push you and cross your boundaries. It is still your home and YOU hired them.

Stay Positive: Decluttering can be an emotional process, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Focus on the benefits and how great you’ll feel once it’s done. Don’t push yourself too hard. Always be nice to yourself.

Decluttering your home doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With a little patience, consistency, and these handy tips, you’ll be on your way to a more organized and stress-free life. So grab those trash bags, put on your favorite tunes, and let’s get decluttering! Your future, clutter-free self will thank you.

Happy decluttering, everyone!

In our fast-paced world, staying organized has become a valuable skill that can greatly enhance productivity, reduce stress, and improve the overall quality of life. Whether you’re a student, a professional, a homemaker, or anyone in between, maintaining order in your personal and professional life is essential. In this blog post, we’ll explore some practical tips and strategies to help you stay organized and lead a clutter-free life.

The Art of Staying Organized

Declutter Regularly:

One of the first steps toward staying organized is to declutter your physical and digital spaces. Start with your home or workspace. Go through your belongings and remove items you no longer need or use. This will free up space and make it easier to find what you’re looking for. The same goes for your digital life – clean up your email inbox, files, and apps. When you declutter, you will also start to feel better. If your home is cluttered, your mind is probably too.

Set Clear Goals:

To stay organized, you need to have a clear sense of what you want to achieve. Set both short-term and long-term goals, and break them down into smaller, actionable tasks. Having a sense of purpose and direction will help you stay on track and avoid feeling overwhelmed. The next time you start a new big project, divide it up into smaller goals.

Create a To-Do List:

A to-do list is a simple yet powerful tool for staying organized. Each day, jot down the tasks you need to complete. Prioritize them based on importance and deadline. Crossing items off your list as you complete them is satisfying and keeps you focused. I like to use Notion for most things. I have many lists for everything, including a to-do list for work and personal life. In the morning, I just can look at my to-do what I still have to do and start working.

Use a Planner or Calendar:

In addition to a to-do list, consider using a physical planner or a digital calendar to schedule your tasks and appointments. This will help you keep track of your commitments and prevent overbooking yourself. When I was still in school, I was the least organized person in my class and it did not make me feel great. I was always looking for certain papers and was not on top of my assignments. After school life, I became slowly more of an organized person. It actually makes me feel better as well.

Organize Your Space:

A well-organized physical environment can do wonders for your productivity. Invest in storage solutions like shelves, cabinets, and drawers to keep your belongings neatly arranged. Label items and create designated spaces for different categories of items. I do this with papers, and documents but also with other stuff. I also know where something is if I need it.

Digital Organization:

Your digital life can get just as cluttered as your physical space. Organize your files into folders with clear, descriptive names. Use software or apps to manage tasks, schedules, and notes. Regularly clean out your email and unsubscribe from newsletters that no longer serve you. Getting too many emails can be overwhelming, even when they are useless newsletters you never read.

Time Management:

Time management is a key component of staying organized. Learn to allocate your time wisely, avoiding procrastination and time-wasting activities. Consider using time management techniques such as the Pomodoro Technique or time blocking to maximize productivity. With Pomodoro, you stay focused on your task for 30 minutes or longer and then you get a 5-minute break. There are many Pomodoro videos on YouTube with timers that might help you

Delegate and Outsource:

You don’t have to do everything on your own. Delegate tasks when possible, and consider outsourcing certain activities that are not your strengths or that you don’t have time for. This can help you stay focused on what truly matters. This might not be an easy thing to do for everyone. Some people (like me) like to have control, but sometimes it is really better to ask for help. This frees up time for other things.

Stay Mindful of Your Habits:

Staying organized is not just about physical and digital spaces; it’s also about your habits. Be aware of time-wasting habits, such as excessive social media use, and take steps to reduce or eliminate them. Cultivate good habits like setting aside time for self-care and relaxation. Become aware of how you spend your day and then try to improve where necessary. I am going, to be honest and say I wasted a lot of time on social media, but I realized I found other things more important, and slowly I started to do those things instead of scrolling on social media.

Review and Adjust:

Staying organized is an ongoing process. Regularly review your systems and routines to identify areas where you can improve. Be flexible and willing to adjust your strategies as needed. Nobody is the same, so find out what is working for you and what is not. And remember nobody is perfect!

Photo by Domenico Loia on Unsplash

The post The Art of Staying Organized first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The post The Art of Staying Organized first appeared on Bettie Toon.
