Title: Her Favorite Jack-O-Lantern
Author: Rebecca Rennick
Publisher: Self-published
Genre: Halloween/Romance
Pages: 371
My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤

Buy this book on Amazon

Her Favorite Jack-O-Lantern

Jack Campbell spent eight years in the army, and now he’s returned to his hometown, moving into the only house available. His new neighbor? Sally Smithson and she’s gorgeous. While Jack immediately finds Sally beautiful, the rest of the town does their best to avoid her. Most people think she’s weird. Sally’s house is black and Halloween-themed, she always dresses like it’s Halloween (even in the summer), and she drives a hearse.

Sally is used to how people react to her, she doesn’t really care anymore. She likes her life. She has two good friends, two cats, and a job she enjoys. Sally is extremely happy when she finds out that Jack, her teenage crush, has moved into the house next door. And while Jack doesn’t remember Sally from school, they quickly become good friends. He helps her with pumpkins and town decorations, and she shows him around, telling him all about what happened in the eight years he was away in the army.

Review

It was Halloween, and of course, I had to read something Halloween-themed and then I found this book. I think it was also on my TBR last year, but I never got around to reading it. I finally had time to read it now, and I have to say, I really like the cover. It is very Halloween-themed!

I think this book was cute and fun. I loved the chemistry between Jack and Sally. Sally has a very specific style, and her ex-fiancé ran away when she told him she wanted a spooky wedding. Most people in town think she’s weird just because she loves Halloween so much. But Jack doesn’t think she’s weird at all and he’s clearly interested in her. He accepts her for who she is and even gets angry that everyone else avoids her. I really liked their love story.

All the characters were likable except for one: Jack’s ex. She was so annoying. Jack tells her over and over that he’s not interested, yet she keeps stalking him. She just can’t believe Jack would actually choose Sally over her. She’s basically the mean girl. But honestly, I secretly enjoyed those parts too and the way Jack kept telling her “no” again and again? Ugh, that was amazing. Jack is a total green flag.

Was there something I didn’t like about this book? Not really. I really enjoyed it. I gave it four out of five stars for one simple reason: four stars means I really liked a book, but I save five stars for the ones that make me feel things. The books that make me cry, scream, or just completely wreck me emotionally. That didn’t happen here, but it was still such a good read.

This is the second book in the Gummy Bear Orgy series — which sounds very spicy, but it’s actually not that bad! It’s about as spicy as an Elsie Silver or Ana Huang book, so don’t let the title fool you. There were no actual orgies, haha. And yes, you can definitely read this as a standalone. I checked Goodreads for the first book, and I didn’t recognize any of the characters, so I don’t think they’re connected.

The post Her Favorite Jack-O-Lantern – Rebecca Rennick | Book Review first appeared on A happy life.
