Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow

Willow Connor lives with her father on their family farm, but there’s one huge problem: they’re facing financial difficulties. Willow’s father is considering selling the farm to the Henderson family, a company that wants to turn the land into an apartment complex. Willow can’t live with that idea because she loves the farm. She makes a deal with Dylan Henderson: if she can’t make enough money in the next six weeks, she will sell. In the meantime, Dylan stays on the farm to help Willow and try to convince her to sell.

Review

I am in my fall romance era. Since the beginning of September, I’ve been reading more and more cozy romances set during the fall, and I’m obsessed with them. This is my favorite season, and reading about apple pies, pumpkins, and all of that makes my heart so happy.

This book definitely gave lots of cozy fall vibes, there was even a storm. And I love a good fall storm. Willow decided to save her family farm by creating a pumpkin patch. To be honest, I’ve never been to a pumpkin patch myself. I did some research because I always thought pumpkin patches were more of an English/American thing. But it turns out we also have pumpkin patches here in the Netherlands, but just not in my area, unfortunately.

The characters were likable, although I had some issues with Dylan. He said some awful things about Willow behind her back, and I hated that. How can you fully trust someone again after something like that? But I really liked Willow. She worked hard, she loved working with her hands on the farm, and she felt so real to me. I have to admit, I even started daydreaming for a moment, wondering what it would be like to own a farm like hers. Just like Willow, I’m not the biggest fan of sitting behind a screen all day long. I’m also a dreamer, so I really connected with her.

This time, I had a hard time rating the book. Part of me wanted to give it a 4 out of 5. I loved the fall vibes. It was such a cozy read. I also liked how, in this small town, everyone was helping each other. But on the other hand, I compared it to Victoria Walters’s other books and to other romance novels I’ve read, and suddenly I wasn’t so sure. If I could, I think I’d give this one a 3.9 out of 5. Close to a 4-star rating, but not quite.

Overall, it was still a really good romance novel with tons of fall vibes. I think it’s the perfect book to read on a rainy day. The chapters are short, which I LOVE—it makes you feel like you’re flying through the pages.

The post Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow – Victoria Walters | Book Review first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The post Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow – Victoria Walters | Book Review first appeared on Bettie Toon.

There’s something magical about fall: the crisp air, the golden leaves, the cozy sweaters, and of course, curling up with a good book while sipping a hot drink. For me, fall is the ultimate reading season. It’s when I fill my shelves with cozy romances, magical adventures, and comforting stories that match the season’s vibe. This year, I’ve put together a list of books I can’t wait to dive into during autumn. From pumpkin-spice love stories to heartwarming romances and even a little magic, these are the stories that will keep me company on cozy fall nights.

Cozy Fall TBR: Books I want to Read This Fall

1. Falling Like Leaves – Misty Wilson
Goodreads describtion says: Gilmore Girls meets Jenny Han. I love both, so obviously I have to read this book. It has a beautiful cover that is giving us fall vibes, just like most of the books on this list. It is a teen rom-com about a city girl stuck in a quaint small town who must confront her future and her old flame while the town prepares for an annual fall festival.

2. People Watching – Hannah Bonam-Young
I absolutely love this cover and while I have never read a book by Hannah, I have heard many great stories about her books. In this sexy and emotional romance from the acclaimed author of Out of the Woods and Out on a Limb, a small-town woman’s journey to spread her wings intertwines with the arrival of an adventurous newcomer who brings out the best in her.

3. Soul Searching – Lyla Sage
I loved Lyla’s Rebel Blue Ranch series and now she is back with a different book, still small town vibes. Collins Cartwright does not want to go home. Sweetwater Peak, Wyoming, was supposed to be in her rearview mirror, but when she finds out a developer is trying to buy her parents’ antique shop out from under them, she doesn’t have a choice—at least, that’s what she tells her family. They don’t need to know she’s lost her job and is out of money. Or that the ghosts that have always been her companions have recently gone silent.

4. Rewitched – Lucy Jane Wood
When you say Fall, you also say Halloween and Witches. This book is about Lunar. Balancing work at her beloved Lunar Books with protecting it from her toxic boss, who’s running it into the ground, and all the while concealing her witchcraft from the non-witches around her – Belle is burnt out. Perfecting the potential of her magic is the last thing on her mind.

5. Fall at Once – Nora Everly
Another romance book, because most of the time I love to read romance. This time a book about a firefighter, I don’t think I ever have read a book about firefighter but I am so ready for it. Fall at Once is part of the Cozy Creek Collection of small-town standalones, it is a steamy, full-length romantic comedy. It is the third book in the series, so I might read the other books first.

6. Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow – Victoria Walters
Willow Connor has one shot to save her family’s farm – turning it into Birchbrook’s first ever pumpkin patch. There’s just one she has exactly zero pumpkins and only six weeks to make it happen. Everyone in the close-knit town thinks she’s crazy, but she’s determined to prove them wrong. And apparently this is the perfect book for the fans of the Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore.

7. Cat Dragon – Samantha Birch
The cover is everything! The description on Goodreads says: Embrace the magic as this delightful tale weaves a cozy spell of adventure, self-discovery, friendship and romance. For fans of Studio Ghibli, Harry Potter, The Spellshop and cottagecore.

8. Fall I Want – Lyra Parish
The first book in the series. FALL I WANT is a spicy autumn-inspired small-town romantic comedy with a billionaire who falls first and harder. Grab a pumpkin spice latte, a warm fuzzy blanket, and make your way down to Cozy Creek. Each book in the series is a complete stand alone with a happily ever after.

9. If It Makes You Happy – Julie Olivia
I mean, this book has a dog on the cover. Michelle’s new next-door neighbor seems to have everything figured out. Small town golden boy? Check. Single dad extraordinaire? Check. Hot baker forearms? I didn’t notice them, I swear. Michelle, on the other hand, don’t–at all–have anything figured out.

10. A Love Like Pumpkin Spice – Hailey Frost
I swear, the cover for fall romances this year are so good. The tropes for this book are: Small-town romance Found family Friends to Lovers Emotional healing FMC Cinnamon roll MMC Cute pets Cozy Autumn vibes He falls first. Sounds pretty good to me.

11. Kindling – Bonnie Woods
When city-girl Harper arrives in the Caledonian Forest in Scotland, her hopes for her holiday are quickly dashed. She’d planned a whimsical, autumnal writing retreat, to finish her novel. But ghosted by her scammer rental host, she discovers that the cosy log cabin she’d booked for her solo getaway does not actually exist. Miles away from any hotel, she wanders through the woods until she finds the hot local woodcutter Fraser.

12. Death of a Kitchen Diva – Lee Hollis
The first book in a series with many books. Single mom Hayley Powell is barely keeping her leaking roof over her head when her boss at the Island Times gives her a new assignment–taking over the paper’s food column. When rival food writer Karen Appelbaum is found face-down dead in a bowl of Hayley’s creamy clam chowder, all signs point to Hayley.

Final Thoughts

This list is my fall TBR, but it’s also an invitation. Maybe you’ll find a story here that calls to you too. There’s nothing better than welcoming autumn with books that warm your heart, spark your imagination, and make you feel the season even more deeply.

The Plot Twist

Stevie Philips just landed her dream job, and she’s beyond excited—maybe even a little nervous—for her first day. But things don’t go quite as planned. The moment she steps into the office, she’s met with pure chaos. Turns out, there’s a new boss in charge, and he’s just fired a bunch of people. Stevie isn’t even sure if she still has a job. And then she sees him. Her new boss is none other than her ex-boyfriend, Noah Anderson—the same man who walked away from her without an explanation. To make matters worse, she has to work directly with him on a major campaign for a book. This is her chance to prove herself, and she refuses to let the man who broke her heart ruin it. But when she finally learns the real reason why Noah left, staying mad at him suddenly isn’t so easy.

Review

This book is a sequel to The Love Interest, which I absolutely loved. I was obsessed with that one and couldn’t stop reading it, so of course, I had to pick this one up too. Back then, I was hoping we’d get to read Stevie’s love story, so I was excited for this! I’d recommend reading The Love Interest first, but it’s not absolutely necessary.

Now, imagine it’s your first day at your dream job, only to find out there’s a new boss everyone calls The Shark—and he’s just fired a bunch of people right before you walk in. Terrifying, right? But then, you step into the office and see your ex-boyfriend standing there because he is the new boss. I would run so fast. But I get why Stevie stays—this is her dream job, and she’s not about to give it up for one guy. I really admire that about her.

Working with books honestly sounds like a dream. In this book, Stevie is running a campaign for a romance novel about vampires, and I so wish that book actually existed because I would love to read it!

One of my favorite parts of the book was when Noah was sick, and Stevie took care of him. There’s something so intimate about looking after someone, even in small ways. I love when books include moments where the guy takes care of the girl, but this time, it was the other way around, and I really enjoyed that. Men deserve to be taken care of too!

The characters were likable—except for Noah’s father, of course. But at least there’s a reason behind why he is the way he is. I also liked that Stevie’s best friend, Liv (from The Love Interest), makes appearances. Her relationship with Aiden is still going strong, which was nice to see. Stevie was really relatable, and I liked Noah too—he was genuinely trying to make up for how he hurt Stevie in the past.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I definitely liked The Love Interest more. I just didn’t feel as emotionally invested in their relationship this time. That’s why I’m giving it 3 out of 5 hearts—though, honestly, it’s more like 3.5.

The post The Plot Twist – Victoria Walters | Book Review first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The post The Plot Twist – Victoria Walters | Book Review first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The Love Interest

Liv (Olivia) Jones has always dreamed of writing a romance novel, but she has problems creating the perfect romantic hero. So instead, she lives with her brother (an influencer) and works in the library at the university. One day, she is suddenly standing face to face with Aiden Rivers, who is there for a job interview. Liv can’t stand him and she is happy that she only saw him twice a year. But if he gets the job, she will see him every day. But it gets even worse when her brother asks his best friend Aiden to live with them, Liv now has to see him every single day. The only good thing is that Liv finally finds inspiration for her romance novel, but while she is writing it, she starts to realize something.

Review

I am a big fan of the Enemies to Lovers trope, and I am not sure why I love it so much. I just do. This is another wonderful Enemies to Lovers book and I absolutely loved it. Most of the time I take notes while I am reading a book, so I can write a better book review, but this time I sort of forgot to take notes. I just wanted to read.

In my last book review (Puffin Bay – Annie Dyers) I wrote that sometimes you won’t like a certain book when you have nothing in common with the characters. But this time I had so much in common with both of the main characters, so I loved them both. She loves to read, is a fan of Mr. Darcy (who isn’t?), and wants to write a romance novel. I have the same dreams. He loves movies and his favorite movie is You’ve Got Mail. I love movies and You’ve got mail is definitely a great movie. And honestly, he sounded like the perfect man. And the banter between the two characters was just perfect.

The setting was just great. I love London and a huge part of this book also takes place in the library at the university. I am from The Netherlands, but I’ve seen photos from universities in the United Kingdom and they all look so beautiful. We have one university building like that here in the city, but imagine studying of working there. It looks so romantic and dreamy.

This was one of those books that you couldn’t stop reading. Unfortunately, I had to stop twice because I had to sleep too. But if it is was optional, I would have finished it in one afternoon. I would probably forget to eat or drink something, but that would have been worth it. I do wonder though, if we will find out if Stevie is going to get her love story. Stevie’s name is mentioned often in this book and she is Liv’s best friend and they work together. Stevie also wanted to find the perfect guy for herself but at the end of the book, she was single. I wonder if we get a sequel about Stevie. I kind of hope so.

I just simply enjoy reading books like this one and I hope I will read more books like this one this year. This book is perfect for those who love the Enemies to Lovers trope and want to read something cute. There is a little bit of smut in it, but not too much. Just the perfect amount of smut. And honestly, I can highly recommend this book.

The post The Love Interest – Victoria Walters first appeared on Bettie Toon.

The post The Love Interest – Victoria Walters first appeared on Bettie Toon.
