I first learned about Project Pan in 2025 while doomscrolling on the internet, but only a few people seemed to be doing it back then. However, when I opened my social media in 2026, I started seeing more posts from people saying they were going to take on Project Pan. Personally, I think Project Pan is a great idea, especially since overconsumption is such a big issue these days. One of my goals for 2026 is to reduce overconsumption and only buy things I truly need.

In today’s blog post, I’m going to explain exactly what Project Pan is and how to do it. So, if you want to stop buying things you don’t really need and declutter your home, you’ve come to the right place!

What is Project Pan?

Project Pan originally started as a project focused on the number of beauty products someone owns. The other day, I saw a photo of someone who was planning to do Project Pan this year, and she had at least 10–20 bottles of shower gel alone. In fact, she had around 20 bottles of almost everything and wanted to reduce that.Of course, Project Pan isn’t limited to just beauty products, it can apply to anything you own and want to declutter.

The idea behind Project Pan is simple: you finish one product before buying a new one. Personally, I’ve been doing this my whole life in a way, I’ve never had a lot of extra shower gel bottles. I always buy a new one when my current bottle is almost empty.

You really don’t need 30 bottles of shower gel in your house. First, you probably won’t even use that much in a year, and all beauty and hygiene products have expiration dates. That means some of them will likely expire before you even get the chance to use them, which is basically throwing money away. By sticking to Project Pan, you’ll save money and keep your home less cluttered.

How to do a Project Pan?

Inventarize what you already have

Pick one category to start with, most people begin with beauty and hygiene products. This is because Project Pan originally focuses on these items, but really, you can start with anything. Lay everything out on the floor or a table so you can see exactly how much you have. Once everything is out in the open, you’ll probably be surprised at how much stuff you actually own. Most of the time, we don’t even notice it because it’s tucked away in a closet or drawer.

Ask yourself: what do I actually need?

Now it is time to be honest with yourself. How much do you like the scent of this showergel? How much do you need? If you live alone then you don’t need a lot of showergel, if you have a big family you need more of course. Ask yourself if you have a favorite scent? How much backup do you actually need? When I started to ask myself these kind of questions, I found out what products were my favorites and what products I barely used because I wasn’t a fan. I found out that I like the vanilla, and coconut scent the most. So I kept those.

Use it, Empty it, or Donate it

If you find items that you don’t actually like or won’t be able to finish before their expiration date, you have a few options. First, you can use up what’s left and then throw it away, but I’d only do this if the bottle is already at least half empty. If the bottles are still mostly full, you can also donate them. Organizations like women’s shelters would really appreciate your donations. Just ask around in your area to see where you could drop them off.

Be more mindful

We all love buying new things, especially when we see a good deal, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I often buy my favorite products when they’re on sale. But sometimes we spot a great deal on something we don’t even use. If one of your favorite products is almost empty, then it’s the perfect time to look for a deal. Make sure you avoid impulse buying. I know how hard it can be, sometimes I see a beautiful jar or bottle of body lotion and just want to buy it because it looks pretty and smells amazing. But most of the time, I don’t actually need it.

In a world full of notifications, endless scrolling, and constant updates, it’s easy to lose hours on your phone without even realizing it. But life feels softer, slower, and more magical when you unplug. If you’re craving cozy, comforting activities that help you step away from your screen, here are some ideas to bring you back into the real world.

Cozy Activities to Help You Get Off Your Phone

1. Make a Warm Drink and Sip It Slowly

There’s something grounding about preparing a hot drink and truly enjoying it. Make tea, hot chocolate, or your favorite coffee. Sit by your window, snuggle into a blanket, and sip it slowly without distractions. Let your mind wander. It seems small because those 10 minutes can make you feel warm and cozy.

2. Read a Book or Magazine

Instead of scrolling through social media, flip through a book or a lifestyle magazine. Light a candle, put on soft music, and let yourself get lost in another world. It’s the perfect way to escape without a screen. There are so many genres these days, you probably will find a book you will enjoy. And magazines brings me back to my teenage years. I loved buying a magazine and then just flip through it.

3. Journal Your Thoughts

Writing things down helps you slow down and reconnect with yourself. Try writing about your day, your goals, or simply what’s on your mind. It can feel surprisingly calming a digital detox for your brain. And these days I love writing about the positive things in life. I write down what went well that day or if I saw something cute or funny. I write everything down and it helps me to focus more on the positive side of life. But journaling can also be very helpful if you are feeling lost or down.

4. Do Something Creative

Creativity pulls you into the present moment. Try drawing, painting, scrapbooking, knitting, baking, or decorating your room. It doesn’t matter if you’re “good” at it and just enjoy the process. I love being creative, and I always been very creative. These days I mostly color in those cute coloring books from Amazon.

5. Go for a Nature Walk

Wrap yourself in a scarf, step outside, and breathe in the fresh air. A short walk can completely reset your mood. Notice the colors, the sounds, the temperature. Nature is the best antidote to screen overload. They always say that nature heals and I feel like that is true. Go outside, even on a cold day. When you come back home again, you can always warm yourself up with a cup of tea or hot chocolate.

6. Start a Puzzle or Play a Cozy Game

Puzzles, crosswords, sudoku, or a board game can be incredibly soothing. It gives your mind something fun to focus on without the constant buzz of your phone. I love playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Switch and it makes me feel cozy. But other times I like to solve a puzzle. You can also invite other people.

7. Create a Cozy Atmosphere

Dim the lights, light some candles, or turn on a soft lamp. Put on a playlist that makes your room feel like a little sanctuary. When your environment feels warm and peaceful, being off your phone becomes much easier. Even better: redecorate your room a little bit. Buy candles, fairy lights, blankets and fluffy slippers to make it extra cozy.

8. Bake Something Delicious

Baking is the perfect cozy offline activity. It’s slow, comforting, and totally sensory, measuring ingredients, mixing, tasting, waiting for the oven timer. And the best part? You get a treat at the end and your whole house smells amazing too. I love baking and the colder months are definitely the best months for baking.

9. Tidy a Small Space

Not a full deep clean, just a cozy reset. Make your bed, organize your nightstand, or rearrange your bookshelf. A little declutter can make your space feel more peaceful and grounded. Go through you stuff and sell if you don’t use or need it anymore to make a little bit of extra money or donate it.

10. Listen to a Podcast or Music

Put your phone on airplane mode or leave it in another room, then listen to something that relaxes you. Soft jazz, nature sounds, a comfort playlist, or a wholesome podcast create a cozy vibe without needing your eyes on a screen. Right now, I even went back to CD’s. This way I don’t have to use any screens. I can simply put the CD in my CD player.

11. Go Thrift Shopping

Thrifting is a cozy, offline adventure. Wander through your local thrift store, vintage shop, or flea market and explore the treasures waiting for you. You never know what you’ll find. Maybe you find a cute sweater, a book you’ve been wanting, a cozy mug, or something completely unexpected. It’s relaxing, slow-paced, and a fun way to treat yourself without staring at a screen.

I absolutely love going thrift shopping. There’s something so exciting about walking into a thrift store. Uou never know what you’re going to find. Some days you walk out empty-handed, and other times you hit the jackpot: the perfect vintage sweater, a stack of DVDs from your childhood, or a piece of decor that feels meant to be.

But here’s the thing: thrift shopping is different from regular shopping. It’s not just about browsing racks and picking up whatever you like. There are a few things you need to pay attention to before making a purchase, otherwise you might regret it later. Over time, I’ve learned some helpful tricks to make every thrift trip more fun and more rewarding. Let’s dive in!

10+ Tips for Thrift Shopping Like a Pro

1. Always Check Clothes for Stains or Damage

Clothes in thrift stores have lived a life before you. While most people buy the latest trends, you get to choose what you truly like and not just what’s trendy right now. That’s part of the charm, but it also means you need to inspect items carefully. Look for stains, holes, missing buttons, or broken zippers. Small flaws can sometimes be fixed, but bigger ones may not be worth your time or money. Trust me, it’s happened to me before, but I’ve learned from my mistakes. I’m sure the staff checks the clothes, but sometimes things slip through. Recently, I found the cutest top, but I had to put it back because there was a stain I wasn’t sure would come out.

2. Try Everything On

Sizing can be tricky when you’re thrifting. Different brands, vintage cuts, or stretched fabrics can all fit differently than expected. Always try clothes on if possible, or at least hold them up against yourself in a mirror. What looks perfect on the hanger might not work once you’re wearing it. Sometimes I go to flea markets where there are no fitting rooms, and in that case, I usually skip the clothing racks. Most of the time you can’t return items anyway.

3. Double-Check CDs, DVDs, and Other Media

I’m a huge fan of physical media (I even wrote a whole blog post about it!). But when you’re thrifting for CDs, DVDs, or vinyl records, always check that the disc is actually inside the case. Also, look for scratches or cracks that might make it unplayable. Nothing is more disappointing than getting home and finding an empty case. Yes, it takes extra time, but you don’t want to waste money on something that doesn’t work anymore. Recently, I found a DVD of one of my favorite movies, Serendipity. But when I checked the disc, I wasn’t sure if it would still work, so I didn’t buy it. I just hope I’ll find another copy someday.

4. Watch Out for Overpricing

Sometimes thrift stores overprice items, especially fast-fashion brands like Shein, H&M, or Zara. If the thrift price is almost the same as buying it new in-store, it’s not really a bargain. Compare in your head, or quickly on your phone, before buying. One time, I found a Primark dress I already owned, and the thrift price was nearly the same as a brand-new one. Pricing at thrift stores can be very strange. I’ve seen a Shein item for 8–9 euros, and another time, a 200-euro dress for just 2 euros. If you’re unsure, you can always Google the brand first.

5. Take Your Time

Thrift shopping isn’t for rushing. It takes patience to sift through racks and shelves to find hidden gems. Give yourself enough time to really look—sometimes the best items are tucked away or hidden behind less exciting pieces. Depending on what I’m looking for (I always have a specific list), I can spend one to two hours at the store. Most of the time, I check clothes, CDs, DVDs, and books.

6. Go Regularly

If you’re hunting for something specific, like a leather jacket or a particular book, you probably won’t find it on your first trip. Thrift stores are always updating their inventory, so visit regularly. The more you go, the more likely you are to spot that perfect find—you have to be patient. For example, I’ve had a black tiered maxi skirt on my wishlist for a year, and I still haven’t found one.

7. Don’t Be Afraid to Dig

Some of the best treasures aren’t hanging neatly in plain sight. Flip through the racks piece by piece, browse the bottom shelves, and dig through bins. It takes effort, but that’s part of the fun. That’s why looking for clothes can take a long time. My favorite thrift store color-codes everything and sorts by size, which makes it much easier. But I also visit another thrift store where everything is just hung randomly, so I have to check every single item.

8. Think Creatively

Thrift shopping is the perfect time to think outside the box. That oversized men’s shirt? It could work as a dress or a layering piece. A vintage mug? Perfect for holding pens on your desk. Don’t just see items as they are, imagine what they could become. If you’re really creative, you can even buy a piece of fabric and make your own shirts or dresses.

9. Have a Wishlist, But Stay Flexible

It’s smart to have a few items in mind, like “fall sweaters” or “a cozy blanket,” but don’t go in expecting to find something specific. The magic of thrifting is in the surprises, so stay flexible and open to whatever catches your eye. I have to admit, I do have a specific item on my list right now, a particular skirt. It also helps to know your style. I often browse Pinterest for inspiration and then head to the thrift store to see if anything matches that vibe.

10. Check Return Policies

There are places where you can buy second-hand items but cannot return them, like flea markets that happen occasionally or garage sales. You have to be sure you really want to buy something. If you shop at a physical thrift store, you can usually return items. This way, you can test things like CDs or DVDs to make sure they actually work.

11. Bring Cash (Optional but Handy)

Some smaller thrift shops may prefer cash, and it can also help you stick to a budget. If you walk in with only €20, you’re less likely to splurge on things you don’t need. Flea markets, in particular, are usually cash-only places.

12. Enjoy the Hunt

Above all, remember that thrift shopping is about the experience. You might not find something every time, and that’s okay. The thrill of the hunt, the unexpected treasures, and the sustainability all make it worthwhile. Sometimes you find the craziest things, I’ve come across scary dolls or clowns more times than I can count. But other times, you strike gold, like the designer dress I found worth hundreds of euros that I paid just 2 euros for.

The post 10+ Tips for Thrift Shopping Like a Pro first appeared on A happy life.

The post 10+ Tips for Thrift Shopping Like a Pro first appeared on A happy life.

Fall has begun, and with it comes shorter days, crisp air, and, of course more rainy days. While the rain often means staying indoors, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, rainy days can be the perfect excuse to slow down, relax, and create little moments of joy. With the right mindset, you can turn gloomy weather into something to look forward to.

Why Romanticizing the Rain Helps Your Mood

Romanticizing life is all about shifting your perspective—seeing beauty in the simple, everyday moments. Instead of focusing on the inconvenience of rain, you choose to see it as an opportunity for rest, creativity, and self-care.

Here’s why this little mindset shift works:

Improves your mood – Viewing rain as cozy rather than dreary helps you feel calmer and more content. It’s all about perspective. Sure, you can think it’s terrible that it’s raining all the time, but you can also see it as an opportunity to slow down, watch a movie or show, and maybe read more books. Every season has its pros and cons — you just have to make the most of it.

Supports mental health – Fall is the perfect season to slow down and take care of your body and mind. Listen to what you need. Build slower routines and habits to ease anxiety, and do more inner work like breathing exercises and meditation.

Adds everyday magic – Romanticizing makes even ordinary moments feel special, giving you something to look forward to. Yes, you may be staying inside more during fall, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t endless ways to make your days feel magical. Plan a cozy reading night with a good book, blankets, and snacks; cook your favorite meals or try a new recipe; light a candle for extra coziness; or invite your friends over for a cozy girls’ movie night.

How to Romanticize Your Rainy Days

Here are some simple yet dreamy ways to turn a rainy day into your favorite kind of day:

1. Create a Cozy Atmosphere

Set the scene for comfort: light your favorite fall-scented candle — think pumpkin spice, vanilla, or warm cinnamon — and pull out your softest blankets. Dim the lights and let the sound of rain on the windows set the mood. Add some cozy music; I’d recommend a Taylor Swift album like Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, or The Tortured Poets Department. Billie Eilish also has plenty of perfect rainy-day songs.”

2. Read a Good Book

There’s something magical about reading while it rains. Pick a cozy romance, a thrilling mystery, or that book that’s been sitting on your TBR for months. Pair it with a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate for the perfect rainy-day escape. Reading and rain are the ultimate combination for relaxation. I’m not kidding when I say all my anxiety disappears when I’m curled up on the couch with a good book on a rainy day.

3. Watch Comfort Shows or Movies

Rainy days practically beg for a Gilmore Girls marathon, a cozy Harry Potter rewatch, or your favorite rom-coms. Make it extra special with a movie-night setup — snacks, blankets, and maybe even fairy lights. Invite your friends, make pizza or snacks together, then curl up on the couch for a cozy girls’ night. Don’t forget to dim the lights for that perfect vibe.

4. Bake Something Warm and Sweet

Nothing says cozy like the smell of something baking in the oven. Try chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, or cinnamon rolls. Not only will your home smell amazing, but you’ll also have a delicious treat to enjoy while listening to the rain. And the best part? You have to eat what you just baked (such a tragedy, right?).

5. Listen to Rainy Day Playlists

Create a playlist of soft acoustic songs or lo-fi beats to match the mood. Think coffee-shop vibes or a mix of jazz and indie for ultimate coziness. Like I mentioned before, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish have some great moody tracks, but you can also find plenty of playlists on Spotify that fit your vibe. You might even discover some new artists you’ll love.

6. Write, Journal, or Plan

Use the quiet time to write in your journal, brainstorm creative ideas, or plan your week. The sound of rain can be surprisingly inspiring and calming for creativity. Turn off your phone and grab a physical journal. Writing down your thoughts is a great way to clear your mind when you’re struggling mentally. It can help you see things more clearly or maybe you have an idea for a story or book that you want to put on paper.

7. Enjoy a Warm Drink

A rainy day calls for warm drinks, try a pumpkin spice latte, a creamy chai, or homemade caramel hot chocolate. Make it an aesthetic moment with your prettiest mug and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Sit down, be mindful, and really savor your drink. It may seem small, but it can help you feel more relaxed.

8. Pamper Yourself

Run a warm bath with bubbles, essential oils, or bath salts, and light some candles around the tub. Or have a self-care night with a face mask, cozy PJs, and your favorite skincare routine. Paint your nails, use a gua sha tool for a face massage, and if your skin feels dry, apply body lotion or body butter. I always enjoy these kinds of moments. I feel so much better when I take care of myself.

9. Get Creative

Rainy days are perfect for exploring creative hobbies like painting, scrapbooking, knitting, or trying a new recipe. Creativity paired with the soothing sound of rain can be surprisingly therapeutic. You could also keep a journal about the books you read. I can also remember when I went on vacation, my family would always make a sort of diary with photos, movie tickets, and other mementos to remember the trip.

10. Simply Sit and Listen

Sometimes the best way to enjoy a rainy day is to do nothing at all. Open the window just a little, listen to the rain, sip your drink, and simply be. There’s something so relaxing about the sound of rain and it feels like all your problems are washing away.

Final Thoughts

Rainy days don’t have to feel dull or depressing. By adding a little intention and creativity, they can become a source of comfort and joy. This fall, instead of wishing for sunny skies, grab your blanket, your favorite book, and your coziest playlist—and start romanticizing the rain.

In today’s fast-paced digital world, everything is just a click away. We scroll endlessly, stream without limits, and store thousands of books, songs, and movies in tiny devices. But while convenience is at its peak, something else is quietly slipping away: joy. That’s where offline media comes in. Whether it’s flipping through a glossy magazine, putting a record on the turntable, popping in a DVD, or curling up with a paperback, physical media has a way of grounding us in the moment and creating a deeper, more meaningful connection.

The Magic of Tangibility

There’s something incredibly satisfying about holding a book in your hands, sliding a DVD into the player, or hearing the crackle of a vinyl record. Unlike digital files that vanish behind screens, physical media engages multiple senses: the smell of paper, the texture of glossy pages, the click of a DVD case closing. These small, tactile details add layers of experience that digital media can’t replicate. You actually own all of the music, books and movies you love.

A Break From Constant Connectivity

When you’re offline, there are no push notifications or endless distractions pulling you away. Reading a book, flipping through a magazine, or watching a DVD means you’re truly there immersed in the story or music, not half-scrolling and half-listening. Offline media allows for presence, focus, and the kind of enjoyment that feels rare in a world of multitasking. Since I started to spend more time offline, I started to love DVDs, CDs, magazines and reading again.

The Rituals That Bring Comfort

Playing a vinyl record, choosing a CD, or selecting a DVD from your shelf isn’t just about consuming content—it’s about ritual. It slows you down, makes you more intentional, and turns the act into an experience. Movie nights feel special when you pick a DVD, maybe watch the bloopers or behind-the-scenes, and commit to enjoying the film without distractions. The same goes for lighting a candle while reading a magazine or setting the needle on your favorite record. These rituals turn ordinary moments into cozy, meaningful ones.

Nostalgia and Connection

Offline media carries with it a sense of nostalgia. Old magazines capture a snapshot of culture, vinyl records remind us of eras gone by, DVDs bring back the excitement of owning your favorite movie, and books become lifelong companions on our shelves. Owning physical copies connects us not only to the past but also to the joy of collecting and cherishing something tangible.

Final Thoughts

In a digital world, joy often comes from slowing down, unplugging, and savoring something real. Offline media offers that joy. It’s not about rejecting technology but about finding balance—choosing moments where you can disconnect and immerse yourself in the simple pleasure of a book, a magazine, a DVD, or a record.

So next time you’re overwhelmed by endless scrolling, try reaching for something offline. You might just find that joy lives between the pages, within the grooves, or inside the shiny disc waiting for you on the shelf.

The post Why Physical Media Brings More Joy in a Digital World first appeared on A happy life.

The post Why Physical Media Brings More Joy in a Digital World first appeared on A happy life.

Do you ever feel like you own so many things: makeup, skincare, books, candles, clothes, or even snacks in your pantry, but end up ignoring half of them? I know I do and I am sure I am not alone. In a world where it’s so easy to buy more. We are going from buying one trendy item to the next one. And sometimes we just forget to use and enjoy the things we already own. That’s where Project Pan comes in.

Originally a beauty community challenge, Project Pan has grown into a lifestyle trend: a fun and mindful way to actually use the things you already own instead of constantly chasing the next new thing. It’s about slowing down, reducing waste, and appreciating what’s already in your home. I am definitely loving this ‘trend’.

What is Project Pan?

Project Pan is a self-imposed challenge where you commit to finishing or making progress on the items you already have. The term “pan” started with makeup, referring to the shiny bottom of a product pan once you’ve used it up. But today, people apply the same mindset to all kinds of possessions.

It can mean:

Reading unread books from your shelf

Burning through your candle collection

Wearing the clothes you already own more often

Using skincare and beauty products before buying new ones

Finishing snacks or teas in your kitchen before opening more

The goal isn’t to deprive yourself—it’s about being intentional, mindful, and getting joy out of the things you once loved enough to bring home. It is also about not buying too many things while we still have enough of a similar item at home.

Tips to Start Your Own Project Pan

1. Choose a Category

Start small. Pick one area of your life—makeup, books, candles, or clothes. This keeps it fun and manageable.

2. Set Clear Goals

Your goals can be flexible:

Finish a specific product (like a lotion or candle)

Use an item a certain number of times (like wearing a dress 10 times)

Make progress (like reading halfway through your TBR pile)

3. Track Your Progress

Take photos, keep a checklist, or journal your experience. Seeing how far you’ve come keeps you motivated and makes it satisfying.

4. Stay Flexible

Don’t force yourself to use something you truly dislike. If it doesn’t bring you joy or doesn’t work for you anymore, it’s okay to donate, gift, or recycle it. Project Pan is about mindful use, not guilt.

5. Limit New Purchases

Pair Project Pan with a no-buy or low-buy period. For example, promise yourself you won’t buy another candle until you’ve finished two from your collection. Only buy new things when your nail polish bottle or perfume bottle is empty. The good thing is that this project pan will also help you to save more money.

6. Celebrate Your Wins

Every finished product, worn outfit, or read book is an accomplishment. Celebrate the little wins and enjoy the process.

Final Thoughts

Project Pan is more than a challenge. it’s a mindset shift. It’s about valuing what you already have instead of always searching for more. Whether you’re finishing a lipstick, finally burning that fancy candle, or making progress on your book stack, you’ll find a sense of satisfaction in actually using your things. I think in the end you will become more intentional about the things you are buying. A lot of people buy things because they are trending, but if you commit to project pan you will become aware of the things/products you actually like.

So look around your home—what could you start “panning” today?

I love making lists, but especially wishlists. This doesn’t have to mean that I will buy all of the things that are on my wishlist or get the exact thing. I prefer to think about the things I want to buy, so I won’t buy it and then never use it or hate it. But right now I have quite a few things on my wishlist. Some things have been on my wishlist for forever at this point, and other things are pretty new on my wishlist because I recently went to the Ikea and saw a couple of things, and other things are on this list because I am in a spring and/or cozy mood.

My wishlist

HOME WISHLIST

As I mentioned, I went to the Ikea the other day and saw a couple of things.

Besta. Storage combination. At first I was looking for the Eket model. I saw that one everywhere on TikTok and it looked really nice. I wanted to use it to store my CDs. But right now, I think this Besta is just prettier and more functional.

Step stool. I am the shortest, but I am below average, and it is hard to reach for certain things/spots to clean. I am not sure if I would go for this one however. I think a foldable is just smarter, since I won’t be using it all the time.

Set of 3 bowls. This one is also from the Ikea, and I wanted to buy it, but I couldn’t find it except for the show models. But these are useful for dips etcetera.

Mirror. This is the Ikornnes mirror from the Ikea, and I liked this one. It is big enough. It is 167 cm long, which is full length for me. And you can hang your outfit for the next day on the back of the mirror.

Duvet covers. I really need new duvet covers. I’ve been using the same ones for many years now and you can tell. The other days, I saw a couple of holes in it. So yes, I think it is time to replace them.

Ikea 365 food container. Always useful for storing food and I had one, but now I don’t anymore. And I really want to store my food.

Wishlist for Fun

Of course, I have a couple of things on my wishlist that I like to have, just for fun.

Rosie CD. I love Blackpink and I love Rosie’s solo album. I just love her voice and her songs.

Gracie Abrams CD. This is another CD I would like to add to my collection. I love her voice as well and the songs are pretty good and fun.

Flowy Maxi Skirt. I don’t know what a skirt like this is called, but I love it and I have been looking for one for such a long time now. I always look for it at the thrift stores and when I go shopping at the Primark/H&M, but still no luck so far. But spring/summer season is almost here, so I guess I will have more luck then. And I know I can order things online, but I prefer not to. I only order online when it is necessary.

Essence Nailpolish. I always wear nailpolish, but it makes me outfit complete. And since it is basically spring, I definitely want to add more colorful nailpolishes to my collection. In case you are wonder, the names of these nailpolishes are (from left to right): Isn’t she minty, Aloha Papaya, Pinkventures, I lilac you, Yellow there. Essence in my favorite brand. It is cheap, they have a great collection of colors and the quality is not too bad.

Coloring books. I recently found a couple of coloring books that look simply amazing and cute. A couple of my favorite coloring book brands are: Coco Wyo, Bogiki, Jade Summer, Vivi Tinta, Smith and Daisy.

Hey there! Have you ever looked around your living space and felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff lying around? Whether it’s that pile of old magazines you’ve been meaning to recycle, or the closet bursting with clothes you haven’t worn since 2010, we’ve all been there. It’s time to take a deep breath and dive into the wonderful world of decluttering. Trust me, it’s not just about tidying up—decluttering can truly transform your life. Let’s chat about why it’s important and some easy tips to get you started. This is the ultimate guide to decluttering your home

Why should you declutter?

Clear Space, Clear Mind: Ever notice how a messy room can make you feel stressed and anxious? That’s because physical clutter can create mental clutter. Cleaning up your space can help clear your mind, making you feel more relaxed and focused. I know I feel amazing after I clean. Sure, cleaning everything up might not be my favorite task in the world, but the results are pretty amazing.

Boost Productivity: When everything is in its place, it’s so much easier to find what you need and get things done. No more wasting time searching for your keys or that important document! But if you also have less stuff, you will be less distracted as well. So make sure, your home office space is clean and decluttered.

Improve Your Mood: A clean, organized space can make you feel happier and more at peace. Plus, it’s always nice to come home to a tidy environment. I always try to clean everything up immediately. Okay, sometimes I don’t have the energy for it. But I do it as soon as possible. Because a clean and organized home makes me feel a lot better.

Save Money: When you declutter, you often find items you forgot you had. This can prevent you from buying duplicates and help you appreciate what you already own. And when you declutter, you might also realize that you have a lot of stuff and that you don’t need all of this. This happened to me and now I just buy the things I really want or need. But I rarely do any impulse buys.

Enhance Your Home’s Aesthetics: Let’s face it, a clutter-free home looks way better. It can even make your space feel bigger and more welcoming.

The Ultimate Guide to Decluttering Your Home

Start Small: Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to declutter your entire house in one day. Begin with a small area, like a drawer or a shelf. Celebrate your progress and then move on to the next spot. It takes time to declutter everything. Maybe declutter a drawer on a weekday and do the bigger projects on the weekends. You don’t have to declutter everything in an hour. It is a process.

Sort and Conquer: Create three piles: Keep, Donate, and Toss. Be honest with yourself about what you actually use and need. If you haven’t used something in the past year, it’s probably time to let it go. With certain items it is a bit more difficult because it is not like you wear all of your sweaters all year and your Christmas stuff is in boxes for the biggest part of the year. After you might go through your winter clothes and if you haven’t worn it this season, you might consider donating it.

One-In, One-Out Rule: For every new item you bring into your home, try to get rid of one old item. This helps prevent future clutter buildup. Of course, I would recommend to keep one extra of important at the house. You don’t want to be in the shower and realize you are out of shampoo or shower gel. Or find out your toothpaste tube is empty. For this reason, I always keep two of those items at the house, so I am never out.

Use Storage Solutions: Invest in some good storage options like bins, baskets, and shelves. Labeling them can also help keep things organized. And it also looks a lot less messy. Your home or garage will look more organized.

Digital Declutter: Don’t forget about your digital space! Clean up your desktop, organize your files, and unsubscribe from emails you no longer read. You will feel so much better when everything is organized on your computer/phone as well. It is easier to find certain files, which means you are wasting less time.

Make it a Habit: Set aside a little time each day or week for decluttering. Consistency is key to maintaining an organized space. This is totally up to you of course, but I do this every morning or evening. I just love a clean and decluttered home. Plus, if I do it every single day, it is less work than when you only do it once a month or year. For me, it takes maybe 10 minutes a day, not more.

Get the Family Involved: Make decluttering a fun family activity. Teach your kids about the importance of organization and have them help with their own rooms. Because if you are living with other people in a house, you are not the only person who is responsible for the mess. But I know it can be hard to keep your house clean and decluttered when you have children. So remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect all the time.

Sentimental Items: These can be the hardest to part with. If you’re not ready to let go of something, consider taking a photo of it to keep the memory without holding onto the physical item. Do you still need that stroller/buggy when your kid is already 10 years old and you have zero plans for another kid?

Hire Help: If you’re feeling really stuck, don’t hesitate to hire a professional organizer. They can offer great advice and help you tackle the clutter more efficiently. Make sure you find someone who is not going to push you and cross your boundaries. It is still your home and YOU hired them.

Stay Positive: Decluttering can be an emotional process, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Focus on the benefits and how great you’ll feel once it’s done. Don’t push yourself too hard. Always be nice to yourself.

Decluttering your home doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With a little patience, consistency, and these handy tips, you’ll be on your way to a more organized and stress-free life. So grab those trash bags, put on your favorite tunes, and let’s get decluttering! Your future, clutter-free self will thank you.

Happy decluttering, everyone!

Alice could see, as well as if she were looking over their shoulders, that all the jurors were writing down ‘stupid things!’ on their slates, and she could even make out that one of them didn’t know how to spell ‘stupid,’ and that he had to ask his neighbour to tell him. ‘A nice muddle their slates’ll be in before the trial’s over!’ thought Alice.

One of the jurors had a pencil that squeaked. This of course, Alice could not stand, and she went round the court and got behind him, and very soon found an opportunity of taking it away. She did it so quickly that the poor little juror (it was Bill, the Lizard) could not make out at all what had become of it; so, after hunting all about for it, he was obliged to write with one finger for the rest of the day; and this was of very little use, as it left no mark on the slate.

‘Herald, read the accusation!’ said the King.

On this the White Rabbit blew three blasts on the trumpet, and then unrolled the parchment scroll, and read as follows:—

‘The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts, all on a summer day: The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts, and took them quite away!’
Alice in Wonderland

This did not seem to encourage the witness at all: he kept shifting from one foot to the other, looking uneasily at the Queen, and in his confusion he bit a large piece out of his teacup instead of the bread-and-butter.

Just at this moment Alice felt a very curious sensation, which puzzled her a good deal until she made out what it was: she was beginning to grow larger again, and she thought at first she would get up and leave the court; but on second thoughts she decided to remain where she was as long as there was room for her.

‘It began with the tea,’ the Hatter replied.

All this time the Queen had never left off staring at the Hatter, and, just as the Dormouse crossed the court, she said to one of the officers of the court, ‘Bring me the list of the singers in the last concert!’ on which the wretched Hatter trembled so, that he shook both his shoes off.

Here one of the guinea-pigs cheered, and was immediately suppressed by the officers of the court. (As that is rather a hard word, I will just explain to you how it was done. They had a large canvas bag, which tied up at the mouth with strings: into this they slipped the guinea-pig, head first, and then sat upon it.)

Alice watched the White Rabbit as he fumbled over the list, feeling very curious to see what the next witness would be like, ‘—for they haven’t got much evidence yet,’ she said to herself. Imagine her surprise, when the White Rabbit read out, at the top of his shrill little voice, the name ‘Alice!’

‘Here!’ cried Alice, quite forgetting in the flurry of the moment how large she had grown in the last few minutes, and she jumped up in such a hurry that she tipped over the jury-box with the edge of her skirt, upsetting all the jurymen on to the heads of the crowd below, and there they lay sprawling about, reminding her very much of a globe of goldfish she had accidentally upset the week before.

By the time she had caught the flamingo and brought it back, the fight was over, and both the hedgehogs were out of sight: ‘but it doesn’t matter much,’ thought Alice, ‘as all the arches are gone from this side of the ground.’ So she tucked it away under her arm, that it might not escape again, and went back for a little more conversation with her friend.

When she got back to the Cheshire Cat, she was surprised to find quite a large crowd collected round it: there was a dispute going on between the executioner, the King, and the Queen, who were all talking at once, while all the rest were quite silent, and looked very uncomfortable.

The moment Alice appeared, she was appealed to by all three to settle the question, and they repeated their arguments to her, though, as they all spoke at once, she found it very hard indeed to make out exactly what they said.

The executioner’s argument was, that you couldn’t cut off a head unless there was a body to cut it off from: that he had never had to do such a thing before, and he wasn’t going to begin at his time of life.

The King’s argument was, that anything that had a head could be beheaded, and that you weren’t to talk nonsense.

The Queen’s argument was, that if something wasn’t done about it in less than no time she’d have everybody executed, all round. (It was this last remark that had made the whole party look so grave and anxious.)

Alice could think of nothing else to say but ‘It belongs to the Duchess: you’d better ask her about it.’

‘She’s in prison,’ the Queen said to the executioner: ‘fetch her here.’ And the executioner went off like an arrow.

The Cat’s head began fading away the moment he was gone, and, by the time he had come back with the Duchess, it had entirely disappeared; so the King and the executioner ran wildly up and down looking for it, while the rest of the party went back to the game.

The post Why Dogs Make The Best Co-Workers first appeared on A happy life.

The post Why Dogs Make The Best Co-Workers first appeared on A happy life.
