Fall is one of the most magical seasons of the year. The air turns crisp, the leaves change color, and everything feels a little cozier. But let’s be honest: a lot of fall activities can get expensive. Pumpkin patches, festivals, fancy coffee shop drinks, they all add up quickly. And sometimes, you simply don’t have the budget to spend money on entertainment.

The good news? Enjoying fall doesn’t have to cost a thing. Whether you’re looking to soak up the season outdoors or create cozy moments inside, there are plenty of free ways to make the most of autumn. So if you’re trying to save money, or you just love the idea of simple pleasures, here are some ideas for fun, free activities you can do this fall.

Free Things to Do During Fall

Go for a walk: Fall is the best time for a walk, thanks to the beautiful colors all around. Take a stroll through your neighborhood or a nearby park and enjoy the crunch of leaves beneath your feet.

Have a Cozy Reading Afternoon: Pick up a book you already own, grab a blanket, and let yourself get lost in a story. Bonus points if it’s raining outside and you light a candle.

Watch a Fall Sunset: Autumn sunsets have a special kind of glow. Head outside in the evening to watch the sky turn shades of pink, orange, and gold. It’s a simple joy that never gets old.

Take photos of nature: Use your phone to capture the beauty of the season: colorful leaves, foggy mornings, or even your cozy fall outfits. It’s a fun creative outlet without any cost.

Have a fall movie Marathon: You don’t need a cinema ticket to enjoy movie night. Choose your favorite fall-themed or cozy films and make it a full evening in.

Journal or Write: Autumn naturally inspires reflection. Use this time to journal about your goals, gratitude, or simply write down your thoughts while sipping something warm.

Declutter and refresh your home: Fall is the perfect time to reset before the holidays. Go through your closet or shelves and organize what you already have. It’s free, and it makes your space feel cozier.

Explore a new walking trail: Check if there are free trails, forests, or public parks nearby that you haven’t explored yet. Sometimes adventure is just around the corner.

Host a board game or puzzle night: Bring out the board games or puzzles you already own. Invite a friend or play with family for a fun night without spending a cent.

Enjoy a bonfire: If you have access to a firepit or safe outdoor space, gather some friends and enjoy the warmth of a fire. Add storytelling or music for a cozy night.

Try stargazing: Crisp fall nights are perfect for stargazing. Bring a blanket, lie down, and see what constellations you can spot in the night sky.

Visit a free museum or local event: Many towns host free cultural events or have certain days when museums don’t charge admission. Check your local listings — you might find a hidden gem.

Swap books or clothes with friends: Instead of shopping, organize a swap with friends. It’s fun, free, and you’ll go home with “new-to-you” items that refresh your wardrobe or bookshelf.

DIY fall crafts with what you have: Use items from nature — pinecones, leaves, branches — to create free seasonal decorations. It’s a creative way to bring fall vibes into your home.

Take a scenic ride: If you have access to a car/bike, go for a drive/ride and enjoy the beauty of fall landscapes. Roll the windows down just enough to smell the crisp autumn air.

Listen to podcasts or audiobooks: Catch up on free podcasts or borrow audiobooks from your library. Pair it with a walk or some cozy downtime at home. You can also find a lot of podcasts (for free) on Spotify.

Try a Digital Detox Day: Spend a day offline and do only “real-world” activities like reading, cooking, journaling, or being outdoors. It costs nothing but gives a big mental refresh.

Volunteer: Many organizations need extra help in the fall, whether it’s helping at a local event or community cleanup. It’s free, fun, and rewarding.

Plan your Dream Fall Bucket List: Sit down with a notebook and create a bucket list of all the things you’d love to do, both free and paid. Sometimes dreaming and planning can be just as fun.

Just be cozy at home: Light a candle you already own, wrap yourself in a blanket, and enjoy some quiet time. Sometimes the simplest, free moments are the best.

As the days get shorter and the air turns crisp, many of us crave warmth, comfort, and coziness. That’s where hygge comes in. Originating from Denmark, hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”) is more than just a trend — it’s a way of life that’s all about slowing down, savoring the moment, and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Fall is the perfect season to bring more hygge into your life, so let’s dive in.

What is Hygge?

Hygge is a Danish concept that roughly translates to coziness, but it’s much deeper than that. It’s about creating a warm atmosphere, enjoying good company, and appreciating the little things. Think candlelight, warm drinks, chunky knit blankets, a good book, and meaningful conversations. Hygge is less about “stuff” and more about the feeling of comfort, safety, and contentment.

The Benefits of Hygge

Reduced stress – Taking time to slow down helps calm your mind.

Stronger connections – Hygge encourages spending quality time with friends and family.

More joy – Focusing on small, cozy moments makes everyday life more enjoyable.

Mindfulness – It reminds you to be present and grateful in the moment.

How to Create More Hygge This Fall

Light candles of fireplace: Soft, warm lighting instantly creates a cozy atmosphere. Candles are a hygge essential, especially in the darker fall months. Turn off the bright lights. And in case you have animals, it might be better to buy candles with a battery, just for safety.

Bring out the blankets: Layer your space with cozy throws and pillows. The softer and warmer, the better. I am going to be honest and say I use blankets all year around. It just makes me feel more comfy and makes everything more cozy. I can’t live with a soft comfy blanket.

Enjoy warm drinks: A cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa is more than a drink, it’s an invitation to slow down and savor the moment. Make yourself a cup of tea and take a moment for yourself, without any distractions. This can help to reduce your stress.

Cook or Bake comfort foods: Soup simmering on the stove, fresh bread from the oven, or baking cookies fills your home with warmth and comfort. Fall is the perfect season for cooking/baking. Your whole house/apartment will smell amazing (unless you burn it) and warm meals taste even better when it is cold and rainy outside.

Read or Journal: Unplug from screens and spend time reading a book or writing down your thoughts. It’s a calming ritual that pairs perfectly with fall evenings. I always try to spend less time staring at screentime. I feel so much better when I am not doomscrolling. I feel more free, relaxed, happier and creative.

Spend Time With Loved Ones: Hygge is also about connection. Invite a friend over for tea, host a small dinner, or just spend intentional time together. Have a weekly movie night with your friends, let everyone bring snacks and drinks or make them together. Spending time with other people is so important.

Embrace Nature: Go for a crisp fall walk, collect leaves, or simply enjoy the changing colors. Bringing nature into your home, like branches, pinecones, or flowers, also adds a hygge touch.

As soon as September rolls in, the air changes, crisp mornings, golden leaves swirling in the breeze, and that comforting feeling that cozy days are ahead. Fall has always been my favorite season. It feels like a warm hug after a long summer, a time to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. If you’re like me and you want to soak in all the autumn magic, here are all the things to love about the fall season.

Things To Love About The Fall Season

1. The Beautiful Nature
Fall is pure magic. Trees turn into a painting of red, orange, and gold, and even the sidewalks feel like a postcard. Everything during these months is so beautiful and so photogenic. I love going for walks in the fall and taking photos of literally everything.

2. Hot Drinks Everywhere
Pumpkin spice lattes, chai tea, hot cocoa, or a classic cup of coffee. Fall is the season where every drink feels cozier. It’s the perfect excuse to grab your favorite mug, sit by the window, and enjoy the little moments. One of my favorite parts of the day is the moment after I wake up, when I sit down with a cup of tea and nothing else. No distractions, just me and my warm tea. The perfect slow start to my day.

3. Baking Season
There’s nothing better than filling your home with the smell of freshly baked treats. Think apple pies, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, and cookies straight out of the oven. Baking in fall feels like therapy. And the best part? Sharing your treats with family or friends. Plus, the baking shows return to TV this time of year. Here in the Netherlands, we have The Great British Bake Off and the Dutch version of the same show.

4. The Coziest Season
Fall is the start of soft blankets, warm socks, and cozy nights in. It’s about lighting candles, putting on a movie or your favorite show, and enjoying the slower pace. It’s the season that reminds you that rest can be productive, too. I love how this season makes me feel safe and comfortable. I love coming home, changing into a comfy outfit, and wearing cozy house socks and oversized sweaters.

5. Reading Season
There’s something about curling up with a good book while it’s raining outside. Fall is the ultimate reading season. Whether it’s a heartwarming romance, a spooky thriller, or your favorite fantasy series, a cozy corner and a warm drink make the experience even better. I even made a whole list of books I want to read this fall and I’m still adding more. There’s nothing like sitting inside with a blanket and a book while a storm rages outside.

6. Fall Fashion
Layers, cozy sweaters, ankle boots, and scarves, fall fashion is the perfect mix of comfort and style. Every outfit looks effortlessly chic with minimal effort. Plus, fall colors are the ones that look best on me, so this is the best season to shop for new clothes. I get why people love summer outfits and bright colors, but honestly? Bright yellow does not look good on me. I need warmer tones that compliment my skin, eyes, and hair.

7. The Smell of Fall
Crisp air, cinnamon candles, and the scent of fallen leaves—autumn just smells different. It’s like nostalgia and comfort all at once, making even the most ordinary days feel special. I love going for walks just to breathe in that fresh, crisp air, especially when it’s raining or right after.

8. Seasonal Activities
Pumpkin patches, apple picking, haunted houses, and fall festivals. This season is full of fun things to do. Even something as simple as a long walk or a scenic drive feels magical when the world is painted in autumn colors. Just because it rains more doesn’t mean you have to be bored—there’s still so much you can do. Personally, I’m looking forward to thrift shopping, maybe a trip to IKEA (always fun!), and visiting bookstores and museums.

9. Comfort Food
Hearty soups, stews, and everything warm and filling start making their way back to the table. Fall is the season to slow down and enjoy homemade meals that make you feel cozy from the inside out. I’ve always loved soup, I think I could eat it every day. But I’ve also found a couple of new recipes I want to try. If you’re looking for inspiration, Pinterest is the perfect place to find cozy comfort food recipes.

10. Slower, Calmer Days
Fall invites you to take a step back from the fast pace of summer. It encourages mindfulness, journaling, spending time offline, and appreciating the little joys around you. I’ve been spending less time online and realized how much time I actually have when I’m not wasting it on random things. Now I feel calmer, more present, and I finally have more time for myself and for reading books.

Fall has begun, and with it comes shorter days, crisp air, and, of course more rainy days. While the rain often means staying indoors, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, rainy days can be the perfect excuse to slow down, relax, and create little moments of joy. With the right mindset, you can turn gloomy weather into something to look forward to.

Why Romanticizing the Rain Helps Your Mood

Romanticizing life is all about shifting your perspective—seeing beauty in the simple, everyday moments. Instead of focusing on the inconvenience of rain, you choose to see it as an opportunity for rest, creativity, and self-care.

Here’s why this little mindset shift works:

Improves your mood – Viewing rain as cozy rather than dreary helps you feel calmer and more content. It’s all about perspective. Sure, you can think it’s terrible that it’s raining all the time, but you can also see it as an opportunity to slow down, watch a movie or show, and maybe read more books. Every season has its pros and cons — you just have to make the most of it.

Supports mental health – Fall is the perfect season to slow down and take care of your body and mind. Listen to what you need. Build slower routines and habits to ease anxiety, and do more inner work like breathing exercises and meditation.

Adds everyday magic – Romanticizing makes even ordinary moments feel special, giving you something to look forward to. Yes, you may be staying inside more during fall, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t endless ways to make your days feel magical. Plan a cozy reading night with a good book, blankets, and snacks; cook your favorite meals or try a new recipe; light a candle for extra coziness; or invite your friends over for a cozy girls’ movie night.

How to Romanticize Your Rainy Days

Here are some simple yet dreamy ways to turn a rainy day into your favorite kind of day:

1. Create a Cozy Atmosphere

Set the scene for comfort: light your favorite fall-scented candle — think pumpkin spice, vanilla, or warm cinnamon — and pull out your softest blankets. Dim the lights and let the sound of rain on the windows set the mood. Add some cozy music; I’d recommend a Taylor Swift album like Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, or The Tortured Poets Department. Billie Eilish also has plenty of perfect rainy-day songs.”

2. Read a Good Book

There’s something magical about reading while it rains. Pick a cozy romance, a thrilling mystery, or that book that’s been sitting on your TBR for months. Pair it with a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate for the perfect rainy-day escape. Reading and rain are the ultimate combination for relaxation. I’m not kidding when I say all my anxiety disappears when I’m curled up on the couch with a good book on a rainy day.

3. Watch Comfort Shows or Movies

Rainy days practically beg for a Gilmore Girls marathon, a cozy Harry Potter rewatch, or your favorite rom-coms. Make it extra special with a movie-night setup — snacks, blankets, and maybe even fairy lights. Invite your friends, make pizza or snacks together, then curl up on the couch for a cozy girls’ night. Don’t forget to dim the lights for that perfect vibe.

4. Bake Something Warm and Sweet

Nothing says cozy like the smell of something baking in the oven. Try chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, or cinnamon rolls. Not only will your home smell amazing, but you’ll also have a delicious treat to enjoy while listening to the rain. And the best part? You have to eat what you just baked (such a tragedy, right?).

5. Listen to Rainy Day Playlists

Create a playlist of soft acoustic songs or lo-fi beats to match the mood. Think coffee-shop vibes or a mix of jazz and indie for ultimate coziness. Like I mentioned before, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish have some great moody tracks, but you can also find plenty of playlists on Spotify that fit your vibe. You might even discover some new artists you’ll love.

6. Write, Journal, or Plan

Use the quiet time to write in your journal, brainstorm creative ideas, or plan your week. The sound of rain can be surprisingly inspiring and calming for creativity. Turn off your phone and grab a physical journal. Writing down your thoughts is a great way to clear your mind when you’re struggling mentally. It can help you see things more clearly or maybe you have an idea for a story or book that you want to put on paper.

7. Enjoy a Warm Drink

A rainy day calls for warm drinks, try a pumpkin spice latte, a creamy chai, or homemade caramel hot chocolate. Make it an aesthetic moment with your prettiest mug and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Sit down, be mindful, and really savor your drink. It may seem small, but it can help you feel more relaxed.

8. Pamper Yourself

Run a warm bath with bubbles, essential oils, or bath salts, and light some candles around the tub. Or have a self-care night with a face mask, cozy PJs, and your favorite skincare routine. Paint your nails, use a gua sha tool for a face massage, and if your skin feels dry, apply body lotion or body butter. I always enjoy these kinds of moments. I feel so much better when I take care of myself.

9. Get Creative

Rainy days are perfect for exploring creative hobbies like painting, scrapbooking, knitting, or trying a new recipe. Creativity paired with the soothing sound of rain can be surprisingly therapeutic. You could also keep a journal about the books you read. I can also remember when I went on vacation, my family would always make a sort of diary with photos, movie tickets, and other mementos to remember the trip.

10. Simply Sit and Listen

Sometimes the best way to enjoy a rainy day is to do nothing at all. Open the window just a little, listen to the rain, sip your drink, and simply be. There’s something so relaxing about the sound of rain and it feels like all your problems are washing away.

Final Thoughts

Rainy days don’t have to feel dull or depressing. By adding a little intention and creativity, they can become a source of comfort and joy. This fall, instead of wishing for sunny skies, grab your blanket, your favorite book, and your coziest playlist—and start romanticizing the rain.

There’s something magical about fall: the crisp air, the golden leaves, the cozy sweaters, and of course, curling up with a good book while sipping a hot drink. For me, fall is the ultimate reading season. It’s when I fill my shelves with cozy romances, magical adventures, and comforting stories that match the season’s vibe. This year, I’ve put together a list of books I can’t wait to dive into during autumn. From pumpkin-spice love stories to heartwarming romances and even a little magic, these are the stories that will keep me company on cozy fall nights.

Cozy Fall TBR: Books I want to Read This Fall

1. Falling Like Leaves – Misty Wilson
Goodreads describtion says: Gilmore Girls meets Jenny Han. I love both, so obviously I have to read this book. It has a beautiful cover that is giving us fall vibes, just like most of the books on this list. It is a teen rom-com about a city girl stuck in a quaint small town who must confront her future and her old flame while the town prepares for an annual fall festival.

2. People Watching – Hannah Bonam-Young
I absolutely love this cover and while I have never read a book by Hannah, I have heard many great stories about her books. In this sexy and emotional romance from the acclaimed author of Out of the Woods and Out on a Limb, a small-town woman’s journey to spread her wings intertwines with the arrival of an adventurous newcomer who brings out the best in her.

3. Soul Searching – Lyla Sage
I loved Lyla’s Rebel Blue Ranch series and now she is back with a different book, still small town vibes. Collins Cartwright does not want to go home. Sweetwater Peak, Wyoming, was supposed to be in her rearview mirror, but when she finds out a developer is trying to buy her parents’ antique shop out from under them, she doesn’t have a choice—at least, that’s what she tells her family. They don’t need to know she’s lost her job and is out of money. Or that the ghosts that have always been her companions have recently gone silent.

4. Rewitched – Lucy Jane Wood
When you say Fall, you also say Halloween and Witches. This book is about Lunar. Balancing work at her beloved Lunar Books with protecting it from her toxic boss, who’s running it into the ground, and all the while concealing her witchcraft from the non-witches around her – Belle is burnt out. Perfecting the potential of her magic is the last thing on her mind.

5. Fall at Once – Nora Everly
Another romance book, because most of the time I love to read romance. This time a book about a firefighter, I don’t think I ever have read a book about firefighter but I am so ready for it. Fall at Once is part of the Cozy Creek Collection of small-town standalones, it is a steamy, full-length romantic comedy. It is the third book in the series, so I might read the other books first.

6. Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow – Victoria Walters
Willow Connor has one shot to save her family’s farm – turning it into Birchbrook’s first ever pumpkin patch. There’s just one she has exactly zero pumpkins and only six weeks to make it happen. Everyone in the close-knit town thinks she’s crazy, but she’s determined to prove them wrong. And apparently this is the perfect book for the fans of the Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore.

7. Cat Dragon – Samantha Birch
The cover is everything! The description on Goodreads says: Embrace the magic as this delightful tale weaves a cozy spell of adventure, self-discovery, friendship and romance. For fans of Studio Ghibli, Harry Potter, The Spellshop and cottagecore.

8. Fall I Want – Lyra Parish
The first book in the series. FALL I WANT is a spicy autumn-inspired small-town romantic comedy with a billionaire who falls first and harder. Grab a pumpkin spice latte, a warm fuzzy blanket, and make your way down to Cozy Creek. Each book in the series is a complete stand alone with a happily ever after.

9. If It Makes You Happy – Julie Olivia
I mean, this book has a dog on the cover. Michelle’s new next-door neighbor seems to have everything figured out. Small town golden boy? Check. Single dad extraordinaire? Check. Hot baker forearms? I didn’t notice them, I swear. Michelle, on the other hand, don’t–at all–have anything figured out.

10. A Love Like Pumpkin Spice – Hailey Frost
I swear, the cover for fall romances this year are so good. The tropes for this book are: Small-town romance ✨ Found family ✨ Friends to Lovers ✨ Emotional healing FMC ✨ Cinnamon roll MMC ✨ Cute pets ✨ Cozy Autumn vibes ✨ He falls first. Sounds pretty good to me.

11. Kindling – Bonnie Woods
When city-girl Harper arrives in the Caledonian Forest in Scotland, her hopes for her holiday are quickly dashed. She’d planned a whimsical, autumnal writing retreat, to finish her novel. But ghosted by her scammer rental host, she discovers that the cosy log cabin she’d booked for her solo getaway does not actually exist.

Ah, the days are getting shorter, the nights longer, and that cozy autumn vibe is settling in. While some of us love this time of year (hello, pumpkin spice everything), others might find it a bit tricky to navigate mentally. The darker days can sometimes bring on feelings of low energy or even a touch of the winter blues. But don’t worry! I’ve got you covered with a few tips to keep your mental health in check as we say goodbye to the long summer days.

Tips for Maintaining Your Mental Health as Days Get Shorter

1. Soak Up Any Sun You Can Get

Even though daylight is limited, it’s super important to make the most of it! Try to get outside for at least 10–15 minutes during the brightest part of the day, whether it’s for a walk, a coffee break, or just sitting by a window. Natural light helps regulate your body’s production of serotonin (your happy hormone!) and melatonin (your sleepy hormone), so even a little exposure can make a difference.

2. Move Your Body

I know, I know. When it’s cold and dark outside, the last thing you want to do is work out. But moving your body is a game-changer for mental health. Whether it’s yoga, dancing around your living room, or hitting the gym, physical activity releases endorphins that help lift your mood. Bonus points if you can combine this with tip #1 and get outside!

3. Create a Cozy Space

If we’re going to be spending more time indoors, why not make it as cozy and uplifting as possible? Think blankets, candles, warm lighting, and whatever makes you feel safe and happy. Having a comfortable, inviting space to relax in can help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

4. Stick to a Routine

As the seasons change, it’s easy to fall out of your usual routine, but having structure can be super grounding. Try to wake up at the same time, plan your meals, and schedule little self-care breaks throughout your day. Even something as simple as making your bed in the morning can set a positive tone. Waking up at the same time every day might not be the easiest thing when it is still dark outside, but eventually, you will feel better if you stick to the same routine.

5. Stay Connected

It’s easy to retreat into your little bubble when it’s cold and dark out, but don’t forget about your people! Whether it’s a quick chat with a friend, a virtual hangout, or a weekend get-together, staying connected is key. Social interactions can boost your mood and help you feel more supported.

6. Try a Light Therapy Lamp

If you really struggle with shorter days, a light therapy lamp could be your new best friend. These lamps mimic natural sunlight and can help boost your mood and energy levels. Just 20–30 minutes a day can make a world of difference for some people.

7. Prioritize Rest & Sleep

With the darker evenings, you might find yourself feeling more tired than usual. Instead of fighting it, listen to your body! Use the opportunity to prioritize rest and improve your sleep hygiene. Turn off screens an hour before bed, wind down with a good book, and let your body recharge. Journal when you feel you are overthinking everything before bed. Journaling helps to slow down your thoughts.

8. Do Something Creative

Darker days can sometimes feel a little repetitive, so why not shake things up by exploring your creative side? Whether it’s drawing, writing, cooking, or even experimenting with your style (new makeup? cool TikTok content?), doing something creative can give you a mental boost and keep things fun. Trying something new can also help. Maybe you want to try a new recipe or hobby. It can be anything.

9. Practice Gratitude

It can be easy to focus on what’s not going well during the colder months, but practicing gratitude is a great way to shift your mindset. Every day, try to write down three things you’re thankful for, big or small. This simple habit can really help train your brain to focus on the positive.

10. Seek Professional Help if You Need It

Lastly, if the winter blues hit hard, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. There’s no shame in talking to a therapist or counselor if you’re feeling overwhelmed or down. Sometimes just having a safe space to talk things out can be incredibly healing.

Final Thoughts

The change in seasons can definitely have an impact on your mental health, but with a few mindful practices, you can keep those vibes high all year long. So go ahead, sip that hot cocoa, snuggle up in your favorite blanket, and take care of yourself—you deserve it!

Let’s get through these shorter days together! 💛

Fall is the season for cozy vibes and slowing things down, which makes it perfect for some much-needed self-care. As the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, it’s so important to carve out time to relax and recharge. So, if you’re ready to lean into all things cozy and take care of yourself this fall, here are some of my favorite self-care ideas to try!

Top Fall Self-Care Ideas to Keep You Cozy and Happy

1. Cozy Up with a Good Book
Nothing says fall like curling up with a good book, a fuzzy blanket, and maybe even a hot drink. Pick something that makes you feel relaxed or inspired and just get lost in the pages. It’s the perfect way to take a break from the outside world while still feeling productive (because, hey, reading counts as self-improvement, right?). Plus it is a nice way to relax before going to bed. I sleep so well when I just read before sleeping.

2. Have a Self-Care Spa Night
With the cooler weather, my skin definitely needs some extra TLC, and a spa night at home is the perfect fix. Light some candles, play your favorite chill playlist, and treat yourself to a face mask, a hot bath with essential oils, or maybe even a hair treatment. Bonus points if you throw on a fluffy robe afterward and watch a comforting movie.

3. Go for a Walk and Soak in the Fall Vibes
Fall nature walks are pure magic. The crisp air, colorful leaves, and the sound of crunching under your feet are instant mood boosters. Plus, getting outside is a great way to clear your mind and get a little exercise without feeling like you’re in a sweaty summer boot camp. For extra bonus points, make a cup of hot chocolate when you are home again to warm yourself up.

4. Make a Big Batch of Comfort Food
Fall is basically a call to the kitchen. It’s time to break out all the cozy, comforting recipes and treat yourself to some homemade goodness. Think soups, stews, casseroles, and of course, baked goods (hello, cinnamon rolls!). Cooking can be super therapeutic, and eating something warm and delicious that you made yourself is the ultimate self-care move. I am obsessed with soup during the colder months. It tastes nice, it keeps me warm and fulfilled, and it is pretty easy to make.

5. Declutter and Create a Cozy Space
Fall is the perfect time to refresh your space and make it extra cozy for the season. Decluttering can feel so satisfying, and once you’re done, you can focus on adding those fall touches like candles, soft blankets, and maybe some cute fall decorations. A cozy, clean space is a total self-care win!

6. Journal or Reflect on Your Goals
Fall is kind of like the calm before the holiday chaos, which makes it a great time to slow down and reflect. Grab a journal and write down your thoughts, dreams, or anything that’s on your mind. It’s also a good time to check in on your goals and set new ones for the rest of the year. Plus, journaling is a great way to de-stress and focus on yourself. Currently, I am in my journaling era. Every day I write things down and it is really helping with my mental health.

7. Treat Yourself to Fall-Themed Drinks
You can’t go through fall without indulging in some seasonal drinks. Whether it’s a pumpkin spice latte (classic), hot apple cider, or a cozy chai tea, treat yourself to a warm, comforting beverage. Make it a whole self-care ritual—sip slowly, enjoy the moment, and let the warm drink work its magic.

8. Practice Saying “No” (and Not Feeling Guilty About It)
Fall is when things start to get busy, with holidays and social gatherings on the horizon, and it can feel overwhelming. One of the best self-care practices? Learning to say “no” when you need to. It’s okay to skip out on plans if you’re feeling drained or just need some alone time. Prioritize your mental health and set boundaries without guilt.

9. Have a Lazy, Guilt-Free Day
Sometimes, the best form of self-care is just doing nothing. Give yourself permission to have a completely lazy day where you don’t feel the need to be productive. Stay in bed, watch movies, eat your favorite snacks, and just chill. Sometimes, the best way to recharge is to take a day off from everything. Don’t feel guilty about it, you deserve a day off every now and then. You don’t always have to be productive.

10. Start a New Hobby or Get Creative
Fall is the perfect time to start a new creative project. Whether it’s knitting, painting, trying out new recipes, or getting into photography, doing something creative can be so relaxing. Plus, it’s a great way to focus on something fun and new while giving your mind a break from everyday stress.

So there you have it—my top fall self-care ideas to keep you feeling cozy and recharged all season long! Fall is the perfect time to slow down, enjoy the little things, and take extra good care of yourself. 🍁💛

Most people I know are going on vacation during the summer. It is when most people take breaks from work. During the summer it is always quiet at the office. And sure, if you are still going to school, you don’t get a lot of time off during other seasons. But, hear me out: fall is hands-down the best season to travel, and I’ll tell you why. Summer vacations are fun and all, but there’s something extra special about exploring new places in the fall. Here’s why I’m obsessed with fall travel and why you should be too:

Why Fall is the Best Season to Travel

1. Fewer Crowds = More Fun
Summer is great, but let’s be real—it’s packed everywhere. Airports, beaches, tourist spots, you name it. Fall, though? It’s like the secret season where you can actually enjoy your destination without elbowing through a crowd of tourists. No more long lines for everything, no more packed beaches, and no more feeling like you’re in a never-ending game of people dodgeball.

2. Perfect Weather for Exploring
You know what’s not fun? Sweating buckets while trying to sightsee in the blazing heat. Sure, summer gives you all the sunshine, but fall weather is where it’s at. It’s cool enough to be comfortable while walking around and warm enough that you’re not shivering either. Whether you’re wandering through a city, hiking in nature, or chilling by a lake, fall weather is that sweet spot where you can do it all without melting. And in some cities, it can be still pretty warm in fall, so it doesn’t always mean it is always raining and cold.

3. Fall Foliage is Straight-Up Gorgeous
One of the biggest perks of traveling in the fall? The scenery. Everywhere you go, the trees are showing off with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. It doesn’t matter if you’re exploring a big city, a small town, or the countryside—fall landscapes are like nature’s artwork. And trust me, your Instagram feed will thank you for all those gorgeous, golden-leaf-filled shots. Fall vibes just hit differently.

4. Cheaper Everything
Let’s talk money. Traveling in the fall is usually cheaper than summer because it’s considered the “off-season.” That means better deals on flights, hotels, and attractions. You can score some serious discounts and stretch your budget further. Plus, I’m all about fewer crowds AND saving money at the same time—it’s a win-win. This can also mean you have enough money to stay at a hotel for longer than just a week.

5. Cozy Vibes Everywhere You Go
Fall naturally brings out the cozy in everything, and when you travel, it’s no different. Whether you’re snuggled up in a cabin, exploring a cozy café, or enjoying a hot drink after a long day of sightseeing, fall has that perfect chill vibe. Picture yourself wrapped up in a scarf, sipping hot apple cider, and watching the sunset over a beautiful fall landscape. It’s peak relaxation.

6. Fall Festivals and Events
There are so many fun things happening in the fall that you can only experience this time of year. Think of harvest festivals, Oktoberfest, Halloween events, and more. Every place has its own fall traditions, and it’s the perfect time to soak in the local culture. There’s just something extra charming about fall festivities, and they make traveling during this season even more special.

7. Fall Foods from Around the World
And finally, let’s not forget the food! Fall is prime time for seasonal dishes that you won’t find during the summer. Depending on where you go, you can try delicious local fall recipes, whether it’s a hearty stew, pumpkin treats, or warm, spiced drinks. Traveling is always about the food, and in the fall, everything feels a little more comforting and delicious.

So, if you’re looking to travel without the chaos of summer crowds, want better deals, and love soaking in gorgeous scenery with those cozy fall vibes, then pack your bags! Fall is definitely the best season to explore new places, and once you try it, you’ll never want to go back to the sweaty summer travel hustle.
