Freakier Friday
Anna is a single parent to Harper, and then she meets Eric Reyes, a single dad to Lily. They have a great time together and eventually decide to get married. The problem? Harper and Lily can’t stand each other and they definitely don’t want this marriage to happen, especially if it means moving to a different city. Because, Eric and Lily are British, while Anna and Harper are American. Arguments break out, and then one night, they mysteriously swap bodies. Harper and her mother Anna swap bodies and grandmother and Lily also swap bodies. Now they all have to figure out how to change back.
Review
Freaky Friday came out over 20 years ago. Isn’t that crazy? I loved that movie, and I loved Lindsay Lohan. Back then, I would watch any movie with Lindsay Lohan (and the Olsen Twins and Hilary Duff). So when I found out they were making a sequel to Freaky Friday, I got very excited.
I have to admit, I was also a little scared, mostly because the movies from the early 2000s were amazing. The humor was fantastic, and the vibe was just unmatched, you know? But these days, I feel like the quality of modern movies is generally lower. Every now and then a great one comes out, but most of the time movies just feel “okay.”
But I didn’t need to worry at all because this movie was amazing! It brought me right back to the early 2000s, when I was just a kid already in love with movies. Sure, nothing can beat the original, but they did a really great job with this one. The humor was spot on. I laughed out loud several times. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were fantastic, and it was so fun to see most of the original cast return, including the teacher.
Freaky Friday and Freakier Friday are pretty similar in storyline: a single parent raising a teenage daughter, the parent finds a new man and wants to get married, but of course, the mother and daughter are fighting… and then they swap bodies. So in that way, it’s not something brand new. But this time, they made it even more complicated because the grandmother (Jamie Lee Curtis) also swaps bodies with the future stepchild, Lily. Still, I think most people will watch it for the nostalgia anyway.
To be honest, this was a great movie. If you grew up watching Freaky Friday, you’ll probably enjoy this one too, and it’s a fun movie to watch with the younger generation. It brought back so many good memories for me, and I think it was amazing. I just love seeing Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in a movie together.
