It is almost the end of the year and I’ve started reflecting on the past few months and everything I’ve done this year. And honestly? I’ve realised that I am not entirely happy with where I am in life right now.
I haven’t been taking the best care of myself, and I haven’t been doing enough of the things I actually want to do. Instead, I’ve spent a lot of time worrying about things, overthinking, and getting caught up in habits that don’t really make me feel good.
At some point, I realised that something needed to change. I want to start taking better care of myself, both physically and mentally. I want to focus on my dreams, build healthier habits, and create a life I am genuinely excited about. I want to look back at the end of the year and feel proud of how far I’ve come. So for now, I have decided to focus on 5 new habits that are going to help me to change my life.
5 Habits I’m Building to Create My Dream Life
Getting enough sleep
Let’s start with something that might sound simple, but makes such a big difference: getting enough sleep.
There are periods when I don’t take care of myself. I end up scrolling on my phone for hours even when I know I should be going to bed. Then, when I finally put my phone away, I struggle to fall asleep. The next morning, I wake up feeling exhausted and spend the entire day walking around like a zombie.
I have no idea why I am doing this to myself? Getting enough sleep is so important. It helps me to feel more refreshed and energetic, improves my mood, and makes it easier to get through the day. When I am well-rested. I also find it easier to focus on my goals and make better decisions.
Less screen time
Do you know how much time I spend doom scrolling, even when I tell myself I want to stop?
I’ve tried to break this habit so many times, but somehow, I always end up falling back into it. My relationship with my phone is complicated. I do love creating content, but other times I am wasting hours of my life scrolling on my phone.
And that is something I want to change. I don’t want to spend my weekends scrolling, when I could be enjoying life. I want to spend more time doing things I genuinely love, whether that’s reading a good book, discovering a new hobby, or working towards my goals.
Focus on the things that matter
Sometimes I give up on things far too easily. I’ll get excited about a goal, start working towards it, and then lose focus somewhere along the way. Before I know it, I’ve stopped making progress, and am back to my old habits.
I don’t want to keep repeating that cycle. I have dreams, and goals I genuinely want to achieve, and I want to start treating them like they matter. Because they do. I am also making more room for manifestation in my daily routine. That means journaling, focusing on the thoughts I want to reinforce, and reminding myself of the person I am becoming.
I want to keep my goals visible, so I am going to put reminders around me and make more time in my schedule to work towards my goals.
Become stronger and more flexible
Another thing I want to focus on is moving my body more often. I spend a lot of time sitting down, whether I am working on my computer, reading a book, or scrolling on my phone. I want to walk more, stretch my body and start building strength. And no, I am not planning to spend hours at the gym every day.
I want to start small and build a routine that works for me. That might mean going for more walks, doing a short stretching session in the morning, or following a strength workout at home.
I want to feel stronger, have more energy, and feel good about what my body can do. And I know that those things are built through small consistent actions rather than a few intense workouts.
Eating healthier
The last thing I want to work on is my diet. Over the past few weeks and months, I’ve noticed that my eating habits haven’t been the best. I’ve been reaching for candy and other snacks, and I want to start making healthier choices.
That doesn’t mean I am never going to eat candy or enjoy my favourite treats ever again. I don’t believe that taking care of yourself means you have to give up everything you love.
For me, eating healthier isn’t about following a strict diet or trying to be perfect. It is about nourishing my body, having more energy, and making choices that support my overall well-being.
And these are the habits I am building to create my dream life. I am so excited for this journal. I will post more updates in the future.
