Caught Up

Kai is a famous baseball player and he is really good. A year ago his life changed completely. He found out that he was the father of a six-month-old (Max) and the mother of Max did not want to take care of him anymore. Kai was shocked but he wanted to be there for Max and take care of him. So now he is a single dad and a baseball player, which makes it very hard for Kai to find some balance in his life. He always hires new nannies, but they are never good enough so he fires them within weeks. His coach Monty came up with a solution. His daughter (Miller) could be a nanny for Max this summer because she is taking a break from work.
Miller is a successful chef but is burned out and is not sure if she still likes to be a chef. She is now taking a break and her father asks her to be Max’s nanny for the rest of the summer. Miller and Kai are attracted to each other from the start. But Kai wants to have a serious and long-term relationship, while Miller never stays in one place for too long.

Review

This is the third book in the Windy City Series. I already have read ‘Mile High‘ and ‘The Right Move‘, but honestly I think this book (caught up) might be my favorite so far.

The first book is about an Ice hockey player, the second book is about a Basketball player and this book is about a baseball player. First of all, I have never watched any of these sports. So sometimes it is hard to follow because, for example, I have no idea what ‘innings’ is in Baseball. I think they are all pretty American sports, which makes sense because the author is Americain. But I am not American and I don’t know anything about those American sports.

The second thing is that I wonder what the fourth book will be about. I am sort of afraid to check it out. I know the fourth book is coming soon. And I wonder who the main character will be. Because honestly, I have been waiting for Rio’s story since the first book. But I also think the next book will be about Kai’s brother Isaiah. The ending already revealed that I think.

Anyway back to this book. I really liked this story. It is a single dad who does everything for his child. He is feeling guilty he missed the first six months. He doesn’t want to miss a single bit of his life. He doesn’t want to miss his first steps, his first words. I find it very attractive when men are good with kids. Which is kind of ironic, because I am not sure if I am the best with kids.
Another reason why I liked this book is there were fewer spicy parts in this book, which is a good thing. Especially in the first book, it was a little bit too much in my opinion. Sometimes less is really more.

Liz Tomforde’s writing style is very easy to read. It is fast-paced and sometimes it gets very hard to put it down. This book also made me emotional. There was this moment at the end of the book where Miller was going back to her own life at the end of the summer and it made me cry. That moment was so beautiful, even though I saw it coming. I am almost tearing up again now I think about it.

If you want to read this book, it is better to read the other books first. All of the stories are sort of intertwined and it makes more sense. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I can highly recommend it. And now I am just going to wait and pray for a book about Rio. He also deserves a love story. Maybe book number 5 will be about him.
