Inviting Trouble
Madison has five brothers and one extra brother (Park), who became a part of the family when he was ten years old, and Maddie was only eight. Her father raised everyone by himself because Madison’s mother left when she was only one year old. Madison has had a crush on Park for as long as she can remember. She wanted him to take her virginity the night Park left for the Air Force One. The result was one drunk kiss that Park doesn’t even remember. Now eight years later, he is back and Madison’s heart still belongs to him and she is willing to do anything to seduce him. Even when that means she has to wear very girly outfits and wear more make-up.
Review
This is the second book in the Happy Endings Book Club. I read the first book last year and I still have many books to go, because this book series has now 11 books. But the stories are pretty short, so it is not impossible to read most of them this year.
Mad(ison) grew up between boys and had never really a woman figure in her life. She played sports with her brothers, wore comfy clothes, and did not wear make-up. But now she is a part of the Happy Endings Book Club and suddenly she is surrounded by women who talk about girly things and share every single detail of their love lives. Which is actually good for her, because now she learns to share her emotions.
The characters are likable. Everyone in the Happy Endings Book Club is so nice to each other. They are best friends and they help each other. Mad’s brothers are also pretty likable. They are not mean or anything. The only problem I had was that I sort of forgot everyone’s names and stories from the first book. So I think I shouldn’t wait too long to read the other books because now everything is still fresh in my memory. But everything came back as I was reading this book. But you definitely have to read these books in order, otherwise it wouldn’t make any sense. You can already tell who is going to end up with each other in the other books. But that makes me even more excited to read them. I want to read their love stories as well. I totally understand why Madison’s brothers were so protective of her. It was kind of sweet of them.
The only thing that shocked me was the plot twist. I am not going to say what kind of plot twist it was, but I am not sure if it was really necessary for the story. But maybe it would make sense later on, in the other books? But I did not see it coming at all. And I completely understood everyone’s emotions.
This is the kind of book, you quickly read in one setting since it only has around 200 pages. Right now, I am also reading bigger books with 600+ pages and then it is actually nice to read something short and quick in between those books. Maybe this would be a perfect series for you to read on your holiday this summer. Not the best book I’ve ever read, but I still enjoyed reading it. It was never boring because there was constantly something going on, not just with Madison but also with her friends and brothers.
