Make Me Wilder
Not too long ago, Lucy had a great one-night stand and then he suddenly walks into the office where she works. She wonders how he found her, but then she realizes he is not there to see and surprise her. He is there for her boss. He is dating Lucy’s boss. Lucy now gets three weeks off and goes to a small town called Rush Creek, where she is going to turn Wilder Adventures into Wilder Romantic Adventures. The business is not doing well and she has to make a plan for how they can be more appealing to women and make more money.
Gabe Wilder is in charge of the business, but he had no idea his mom hired Lucy to rebrand the business. He is not happy about this. But they make a deal. Lucy is going to make all of the trips (fishing, wild rafting, hunting, survival) that Wilder Adventures offers and he will listen to her ideas. They are spending a lot of time together and slowly it is hard for them to deny their attraction. But Lucy is going back to New York City in three weeks.
Review
This is the first book I read in 2024 and it was a good start to this year. This book had everything: a romantic setting (small town/nature), great characters, spicy parts, and a little bit of drama.
The setting was just great. This small town is nothing like New York, where Lucy lives and works, but it sounds so romantic. They spend a lot of time in nature, which is awesome because I love spending time in nature as well. I come from a small town and even though I am more of a city woman, small towns can be charming. Sure, you don’t have many stores in your area and it takes a while to get to the city but everyone is so much nicer to each other in a small town. Where I grew up, everyone would just greet you on the streets.
The characters were nice as well. The author made all of the Wilder men (even Brody) sound very attractive. I definitely want to read the other books in this series as well. I also liked Lucy who lives in New York, but was never really happy there. Even though, she says she does not like small towns because of what happened in the past. But she comes back to life when she is spending more time in nature and in Rush Creek. I also liked how Lucy never complained. She gets seasick easily and still, she went on a fishing trip and went wild rafting. She was willing to do everything for this job. To be honest, all of the characters in this book were pretty nice. It felt like they were one big happy and lovely family.
And there were a few spicy moments, but definitely not too much. After the first kiss in the beginning, they have a strictly professional relationship, even though there is a lot of chemistry and attraction. There is a lot of Lucy spending time outdoors on boats, hiking, and hanging out with Amanda and Hanna. It was a great balance of adventures, cozy settings, and chemistry.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a great start to my reading challenge for 2024. I am also looking forward to reading Brody’s story soon. I really want to know his story, so I am definitely adding that book to my wishlist for 2024.
