My Roommate is a Vampire
Cassie loves art but it is very hard for her to find an apartment that she can afford. One day she finds a room on Craigslist. It is only 200 dollars so Cassie has her doubts. When she meets her new roommate, Frederick, she is still not certain about this room. He talks and looks like he is from another century. But still, she takes the room because it is the only thing she can afford right now. One day she finds bags of blood in the fridge and that is how she finds out how Frederick is a vampire.
Frederick is a vampire who just woke up after sleeping for 100 years and he needs someone who could teach him a few things about living in this century because he has no idea. And he thinks Cassie is the right person for him
Review
Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about this book. I love vampires. I loved ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Shadowhunters’. I sort of love that fantasy world. This book is a mix of romance and fantasy, two of my favorite things. So I obviously had high hopes. But I think I am a little bit disappointed.
There were still a couple of things I liked about this book of course. The cover looks pretty cool and I love those parts where Frederick did not how to behave in public. He just woke up after sleeping for a hundred years and he is still stuck in that century. He does not know how a normal person behaves. He doesn’t even know how to order coffee or what social media is. But he needs to learn all that otherwise people might find out that vampires exist. He needs to blend in. And that is why he needed a roommate.
But there were a couple of things I did not like about this book. I did not feel the chemistry between the two characters and even though I normally like vampires and romance, this time I thought it was a very strange combination. I also still have questions after reading this book. Did he turn her eventually? Because she grows older and he stays young. They stole bags of blood from the blood bank and the police were looking into that, but was that ever solved that vampires stole it? And some of the vampires fed themselves with actual humans, did they die or turn?
Some parts are a little bit boring or slow as well. Sometimes I was just skimming the pages. At the end of this book, I was just trying to finish this book as fast as possible. I had to force myself to finish it. So I am a little bit disappointed after reading this book. Especially because I had high hopes for it. I saw this book everywhere and I thought it was going to be a great book to read right now. It is Halloween in a month.
I am not even sure anymore if I want to read the second book in this series. I mean, I might still give it a chance, because it might be a perfect book to read with Halloween. But I am less excited about reading it.
