Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams is one of the biggest pop stars from England and to this date, he is still very popular and everyone knows the song ‘Angels’. In this documentary, you will see behind-the-scenes footage from when I just joined the boy band Take That to where he is now. While you are watching the behind-the-scenes footage, Robbie Williams himself explains what was happening and how he felt in that moment, because being a pop star is not easy.
Review
Take That was formed in 1990, I wasn’t even born then. And to be honest, I think I learned that Robbie Williams used to be in a boyband when I was older. But I was a fan of Robbie Williams’ music. That is something I remember. I was only five years old when his hit single ‘Angels’ came out but it was the kind of music I grew up with. I heard his songs everywhere on the radio. And I still listen to his music sometimes.
But as I mentioned I was super young and I just listened to his songs. I had absolutely no idea that he was mentally struggling. That is why I like watching these kinds of documentaries because you never really know what is going on in someone’s head until this person tells you. Then you realize they are not just pop stars, they are also human beings like the rest of us.
This documentary was a rollercoaster. On one side it was pretty cool to see his life story. I learned more things about his career and himself. And I realized that he has made a lot of hits. He was pretty successful. But on the other hand, it was hard to see him struggling. He always thought he wasn’t good enough and there was a lot of pressure. I had no idea that the press was so bad on him. But I also realized I also got the idea that he was the bad boy from watching television. This makes me think that the British press is really hard on pop stars. Because I believe that is the reason why Prince Harry and the Beckhams left the UK right? How can you go to sleep at night, while you are ruining someone’s life? The part where he says that he was having panic attacks and all that was pretty emotional too. A few years ago, I was also dealing with panic attacks and I know how horrible that feels. And he went up that stage and performed. I am not sure how he did that.
This documentary has four episodes of 45 minutes long and it was great to watch it. I am also happy that Robbie got the happy ending, well he is not dead so it is not an ending but you get the point.
I like watching these kinds of documentaries and I hope Netflix will continue making these. It is fun to see older footage from the beginning of their careers and to know how they were and are experiencing those moments. This documentary is a must-see if you love his music.
