Romancing Mr. Bridgerton

The fourth book in the Bridgerton book series is about Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. Penelope has had a crush on Colin for a very long time. Now 12/13 years later, she is still in love with him, but the only problem is that he doesn’t see her like that. Nobody else is interested in her as well, she already accepted her fate as a spinster. And in the meantime, she is trying to keep something big a secret.
Colin Bridgerton just came back from travelling and he is happy to see his family and Penelope again. But something has changed because he is feeling something when he is with Penelope. He always saw her as a friend, a good friend, but nothing more.

Review

When I finished watching season 2 of the Netflix Bridgerton series, I decided to read book number three in the book series because at that time I thought the third season would be about Benedict. But then they announced that they are going to do Penelope’s story first and so suddenly I had to read book four as well. And I finally did! A month before season 3 came out, I decided to read Polin’s story.

I think the reason why I was putting it off for so long is because I wasn’t very excited to read their story, to be honest. I am not sure why, but after reading Kate’s and Anthony’s story I think I would be disappointed. But when I finally read this book, I was getting more and more excited to read more about Polin’s (Colin + Penelope) story. And now after reading it, I am so ready for season 3! This is going to be amazing.

I can see there are a few differences. For example, when Colin tells his friends (On the Netflix show) he is not interested in Penelope. In the book, Colin tells his brothers that he is not interested. There are just a few differences. And of course, we already know who Lady Whistledown is in the Netflix series. It was revealed in season two because Eloise had discovered who it was. This is also different than the books because in the books Colin finds out who Lady Whistledown is. But I get why they had to make a few changes to the story because they are making sure the stories/books are overlapping. It makes more sense.

After reading the first four books of the Bridgerton book series, I still think that Kate/Anthony’s story (The Viscount Who Loved Me) is still my favorite. But this book (Romancing Mr. Bridgerton) about Penelope and Colin comes in second place, in third place is Benedict’s story (An Offer from a Gentleman) and my least favorite book so far is The Duke and I.

I am kind of sad that the actor who played the role of The Duke Simon Hastings doesn’t want to be a part of Bridgerton anymore, because every other Bridgerton makes their appearance in each season. But because the actor quit playing Simon Hasting, Daphne’s story stopped as well. At this point, I would have been okay with recasting him.
