The Right Move
Ryan is a successful basketball player and he only wants to focus on basketball. He does not want any distractions. That means that his apartment is pretty much empty, organized, and clean. He also does not date. Indy is the opposite. She is messy, colorful, and loud. And now she is staying with Ryan because she has no other place to live. They both have had bad experiences with love. Ryan was cheated on in college and he even thought he was going to be a father. Indy was in a relationship with Alex, but he also cheated on her. But the more time they spend together, the more they start to like each other
Review
This is the second book in the Windy City series. The first book (Mile High) was about Ryan’s sister Stevie and ice hockey player Zanders. I was really excited to read this book because I really liked Ryan’s character in the first book. He was so nice to his sister. They have a really special bond and not just because they are twins.
The characters are likable. The characters were already introduced in the first book, so I already had an image of them. I knew Indy’s story a little bit and how Alex cheated on her. But in the second book,g you will find more about Indy and her wish to start a family, even though that is going to be hard. She has no idea if she even can get pregnant. Ryan does not want any distractions, so there is no place for a relationship. He just wants to focus on basketball. But he has his own struggles.
At first, Ryan isn’t thrilled that Indy is going to stay at his apartment for a while. But he does everything Stevie wants, so she lets Indy stay. When they spend more time together, they start liking each other a bit more. I think they bring the best out of each other. They are cute together. Ryan is a great male main character. All those little things he did for Indy. He even learned how to sign and that part made me cry. He is truly a good man. Exactly what I expected since he was also very nice to his sister in the first book.
The story itself is also good. I enjoyed reading it. It was one of those book I couldn’t stop reading. It was hard to put the book down. I have only one problem with this book. The smut was a little bit too much. There were too many spicy scenes in this book for me. I don’t mind a little smut, but I think it was a little bit too much.
The ending (epilogue) made me happy. I just love happy endings a lot and this one made me smile a lot. I was just so happy for the main characters.
I already know the third book is going to be about Kai. They introduced him in this book maybe two or three times. But he wasn’t there a lot, to be honest. He just lives in the same building as Ryan Shay and he has a kid. He is constantly firing his nannies because he is a single dad. Yes, I want to read this book. But I was sort of expecting a book about Rio. For some reason, I am very excited to read about him. There are only three books in the series as I am writing this review, but I hope Liz will write a beautiful love story for Rio as well.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. But again, there were just too many spicy scenes and it was a little bit too much in my opinion. The good news is that you can easily skim those parts and you won’t miss a single thing. I can still recommend this book series by Liz Tomforde.
