Wyatt
Wyatt and Sally have been friends since they were kids. After the funeral of Wyatt’s parents, he spends time with Sally and realizes he has feelings for her. But he doesn’t tell her because he’s afraid it might ruin their friendship. Besides, Sally is on her way to becoming the best veterinarian in the world, and he doesn’t want to stand in the way of her dreams.
Now, many years later, Sally is back for a few months before she starts teaching in New York. Wyatt’s feelings for her haven’t gone away, and now it’s harder than ever to ignore them.
Review
Right now, I’m obsessed with cowboy romances, and I’m not even sure why. I’m from the Netherlands, and honestly, I don’t think we have any cowboys here at all. But maybe that’s exactly the reason why I want to read these books because of the lack of cowboys here.
I love how every single book in this series is simply named after the male lead character. Sometimes I read a book and, by the time I’m done, I don’t even remember the main character’s name. Maybe that’s just a me thing. I don’t know.
Obviously, I love the setting. I adore small towns. I think small-town books are always the most fun to read. I grew up in a small town myself, and while it’s obviously not as exciting as in the books, I think I just feel at home in that setting. This story takes place on the Lucky River Ranch. I really liked the first book in the series (which is about Cash), and I enjoyed the characters in this one too. They’ve been friends for so long, and they’re both scared to ruin their friendship by admitting their feelings. But now that Sally is leaving again soon, they make a deal to have a little fun while still staying “just friends.”
These kinds of books are so easy to read. They are perfect for when you just want to turn off your brain for a while and escape into a different world. This book also has some of my favorite tropes: friends-to-lovers and a bit of fake dating. Plus, I really enjoy that it has a dual point of view. Books with dual POVs are honestly my favorite because it’s so much fun to get inside both characters’ heads and see what they’re thinking.
Of course, now I have to read the other books in the series. The next one, about Sawyer, is already out and it’s a single-dad romance with a three-year-old. I’m already so excited to read it. The other books aren’t out yet, which might actually be a good thing because I want to start reading some fall-themed books soon too. I already made a list of all the ones I want to read, and I can’t wait to dive into them.
