50+ Things You Can Do On A Rainy Day

It is fall and here fall means a lot of wind and rain. But what if you are bored on a rainy day and you have no idea what you want to do? During summer, you have more options, because the weather is nice to spend a lot of time outdoors. But now everyone is spending a lot more time inside. I decided to make a list of things you can do on a rainy day. And trust me, there are still so many things you can do, even when you want to stay inside all day.

50+ Things You Can Do On A Rainy Day

  1. Read a Book: Get lost in the world of literature. Rainy and stormy days are the perfect days to snuggle up and read all day long.

  2. Watch a Movie Marathon: Pick a film series or genre and have a movie day. Don’t forget to make a few snacks before watching and enjoy.

  3. Cook a New Recipe: Try your hand at a new dish. Go on Pinterest to find new great recipes.

  4. Bake Goodies: Make cookies, brownies, or your favorite baked goods. Fall is the perfect season to start baking.

  5. Write in a Journal: Reflect on your thoughts and experiences. Journaling can help with your mental health and struggles.

  6. Puzzle Time: Work on jigsaw puzzles or brain-teasers. Put on a fun playlist and puzzle!

  7. Board Games: Gather friends or family for some old-fashioned fun.

  8. Crafting: Get creative with DIY projects or create your own Bullet Journal. 

  9. Paint or Draw: Unleash your inner artist. Find tutorials on YouTube to improve your skills.

  10. Learn a New Instrument: Always wanted to play the keyboard? Now is the time

  11. Listen to Podcasts: Explore a new topic of interest. There are so many podcasts to find on Spotify

  12. Home Improvement: Tackle small home projects. Now it is time to clean and get things done.

  13. Indoor Gardening: Repot plants or start new ones. Give your plants water or buy new ones and give them a spot in your living room.

  14. Yoga or Meditation: Practice mindfulness and relaxation. It also helps with your flexibility.

  15. Exercise: Try a home workout or yoga session. This is the time to get fit for next year.  I always like to do a dance workout. There are tons of videos on YouTube that you can just follow. My favorite channel is GrowWithJo.

  16. Pamper Yourself: Have a spa day with facials and baths. You can do this at a spa or just simply in your own bathroom.

  17. Cuddle Up with a Pet: Spend quality time with your furry friend. They will also appreciate the extra quality time.

  18. Call or Video Chat with Friends and Family: Catch up with loved ones.

  19. Learn a New Language: Use language-learning apps, like Duolingo and start learning a new language.

  20. Visit a Museum Online: Explore art and history from home. These days everything is possible. You can visit a museum without getting out of your bed.

  21. Coloring Books: A relaxing and creative option. This is not only fun for kids, but there are also coloring books for adults.

  22. Make a Scrapbook: Organize your memories. Put concert and movie tickets in your scrapbook, and write down funny stories you don’t want to forget.

  23. Plan Your Dream Vacation: Research and start daydreaming about your next dream vacation. 

  24. Listen to Music: Create new playlists or discover new tunes. Spotify has a lot of discover playlists made for you.

  25. Try Origami: Fold intricate paper creations.

  26. Write Poetry: Express your feelings through verse. This is the time to discover if you have a talent for poetry.

  27. Karaoke: What is more fun than singing your heart out?

  28. Complete a Crossword Puzzle: Test your word skills. 

  29. Online Shopping: Retail therapy from home. Buy new e-books to read or new comfy/cozy sweaters for the colder months that are coming.

  30. DIY Home Decor: Spruce up your living space. On Pinterest, you can find a lot of DIY for your home.

  31. Start a Blog: Do you have a hobby or a passion? Share your interests with the world.

  32. Watch Ted Talks: Learn something new. Sometimes the TED Talks are very interesting.

  33. Try Calligraphy: Improve your handwriting skills, because it is always nice to have beautiful handwriting.

  34. Learn Magic Tricks: Amaze your friends later. You can probably find a lot of beginner tricks on YouTube.

  35. Start a Journal of Gratitude: Count your blessings. This helps you to focus on the positive side of life.

  36. Tackle a Challenging Sudoku Puzzle: Sharpen and train your mind. 

  37. Start a webshop: Are you creative and do you like to make things for others? Maybe it is time to create a webshop.

  38. Watch YouTube Videos: Find interesting people on YouTube and start watching their videos.

  39. Build a Blanket Fort: Relive childhood memories. I was always excited to do this when I was younger. 

  40. Organize Your Closet: Declutter and donate. You will have more space, and if you sell it maybe more money.

  41. Do a Home Science Experiment: Get curious. You can easily do this alone or with your kids. 

  42. Dance Party: Move to your favorite music. This is also a great workout but at the same time, you are having a lot of fun.

  43. Write Letters: Reconnect with old friends, but go old school and use letters instead of emails. It will feel more personal.

  44. Learn to Knit or Crochet: Create cozy items. Make a hat for the winter or an extremely cozy blanket.

  45. Record a Podcast: Share your thoughts with the world. Start sharing things you are passionate about.

  46. Play Online Games: Challenge yourself or others. There are so many games you can play (for free)

  47. Explore Virtual Reality (VR): Dive into immersive worlds.

  48. Create Vision Boards: Visualize your dreams. Find inspiration on Pinterest, print them out, and put them where you can see it every single day.

  49. Test Makeup Looks: Experiment with different styles. Try new hairstyles. Maybe you find the new perfect look for you.

  50. Practice Mindfulness: Focus on the present moment. This is a good way to reduce stress in your life.

  51. Walk Outside: If it is not raining too hard and it is not too windy, you can always go outside for a little bit of fresh air
  52. Go Thrift shopping: You can also go to the stores and find something that is unique and amazing.
