Review
Let’s start by saying I am not the biggest fan of Formula 1 or any other racing sports to be honest. The reason why I still picked up this book is because this book is also a romance novel and it was Formula 1 weekend in my country. And it seemed fun to pick a book with a Formula 1 theme.
And honestly, it wasn’t so bad. I feel like Formula 1 is gaining popularity these days. There are many romance novels with a Formula 1 theme but I think I picked the right book for me. It was a mix of the Formula 1 lifestyle and romance. And the parts about Formula 1 in this book were actually my favorite parts. It was interesting. I know people who are obsessed with Formula 1 and it is on the news all the time, so I already knew a couple of things. But I still feel like I learned a thing or two. And because of this book, I even decided to watch a little bit of Formula 1. It wasn’t too bad. Would I always watch it? Probably not. Maybe it was sort of interesting to watch it.
As I mentioned the parts about Formula 1 were actually my favorite parts of this book. I wanted to read this book for the romance parts, but honestly, I just did not care about their relationship at all. Do you know in romcom movies you have two characters and both are great characters but there is no chemistry between the two? I had the same feeling here. So it was hard to rate this book because I liked half of it.
The characters were just okay. They both have their own struggles and they were kind people but I also didn’t care about them really. I did not hate them, I just thought they were okay. However, I was happy for Dev because he got what he wanted.
I believe this is Simone Soltani’s debut and honestly, I can see myself reading her other books. The writing style is okay. It was an easy read, which I prefer. I feel like her next book ‘Ride with me’ is going to be another book about romance and Formula one, but we’ll see.
If you like racing sports like Formula One and romance, this book might the perfect book for you. And even if you’re not the biggest fan, you might like this. I mean, I am not the biggest fan of F1 and I kind of liked it. You can always try if you want to.
