If You Give a Billionaire a Bride
Everly Townstead has known Cash Stafford since they were young. He is her twin brother’s best friend. But they haven’t seen each other in many years. Now they are both older than 30 years old and they see each other again in Las Vegas. Cash reminds Everly of the pact they made when they were younger. They agreed to marry each other when they were both 30 and single. After too many drinks Everly and Cash get married and the next day the realisation sinks in.
But they can’t get it annulled, because Stafford is trying to buy Townstead, and getting a divorce would be a bad look for this business deal. They agree to stay married until the deal is done. But the more they spend time with each other, the more they start liking each other.
Review
This is the second book of the Aspen Grove book series and the author even mentions that you can read this as a stand-alone, I think I would still recommend reading it in the right order. The characters are all family and I think it is just easier to read it in order.
If you know me a little, then you would know that I love romance. I love watching romantic movies and I love to read romance. But I think this was the book that made me realize I should read something else. Suddenly I was done with cheesy predictable romance books. I wanted to explore other genres. Was this book that bad? No. But it felt like I was sort off reading the same stories over and over again. Sometimes the books I read have the same plot like fake fiancé or enemies to lovers and I think it just got boring for me.
The thing I liked about this book was that Cash was a gentleman. Well, I think he was. He really took care of her. He fell in love with her when they were still kids and he never got over his crush on Everly. He is the billionaire in this story and damn, you could tell that he was rich. He was spending so much money on everything. The thing I liked is that he gave his employees a bonus and he always tipped generously at restaurants. And he was very close to his family. It must be nice to be a billionaire.
I also liked how nice and kind Cash’s family were to Everly. Of course, they already knew her, but now they got married and it was a different situation. But they were very welcoming and that is exactly what Everly needed. Her parents are toxic.
Of course, the fact I was done with romance books is one of the reasons why I gave this book 3/5 stars. But there are some other reasons as well. First of all, it was not one of those books I couldn’t put down. Then there were some other things I disliked about this book. Stop reading if you don’t want any spoilers. But the fact that they are both 30 years old and they can’t cook a single meal is so strange and weird. I think it is kind of sad. It is one of the things you need to learn growing up. I was already cooking and baking in my teens.
Then there was a second thing that made me angry. Everly has a spoiled woman as a mother. Everly is literally paying for everything (house/car) and that doesn’t change. They even paid off her house and car at the end. Everly’s mother wants to live a rich lifestyle without doing anything for it. At the same time, Everly was working hard and paid everything for herself and her mother. So that is another reason why I didn’t give it 4 or 5 hearts.
Overall, it was just an okay romance book. Again, I would recommend reading the first book in this book series first.
