Love Again
A young woman (Mira) lost her boyfriend two years ago and tries to go back to her old life and apartment. She finds a way to cope with grief. She is sending text messages to his old phone number. But what she does not know is that this phone number belongs now to Rob’s new phone. Rob never responds to her text and thinks it is kind of weird, but at the same time, he wants to know who is texting him. When he finds him, he never tells her that she has been texting him all this time. Instead, he asks her out on a date and they slowly fall in love.
Review
This movie was really sad and beautiful and I have a few thoughts about this movie. Good and bad things. But let’s start by saying that this movie was a lot better than most romance movies that have come out recently. It feels like these days it is so hard to find a good romance movie. It is like they don’t even put any effort into it anymore or their budget is just small. So that is a plus.
It was hard for me to concentrate on this movie, not because it was bad (I think). I think it had something to do with the fact I was feeling sick. I had the fever/flu when I watched this movie. When you are sick. it is just harder to focus on something longer than a few minutes. Maybe that influences my opinion a little bit. I just wanted to mention this before I go on with my review.
This story was so sad and beautiful. She watched her boyfriend (who was going to propose to her) die in front of her eyes. That was just terrible. I felt so bad for her. I have no idea how someone would ever deal with that. There was someone (I think it was her sister) who implied that two years was long enough to be sad and grieve. Like there is a time limit on it or something. I felt bad for her that her first date after that was just a terrible one as well. He just wanted to have sex with her. Fun fact though: Mira is played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and the guy on her first date was her real-life husband Nick Jonas. Thought that was quite funny.
While I thought the whole movie was beautiful and I sort of liked the love story, I also had some issues. Why did Rob never respond to those messages? It feels wrong to read those right? Also, he was kind of a stalker as well. I get he wanted to know who was texting him, but if you find the person you tell them everything. Rob never did.
But those were the only things I had some issues with. The cast was pretty great. The story was beautiful. It is about finding love again after losing your boyfriend. Sometimes it might feel like you will never find anyone again, but it is definitely possible. But to be honest, what I liked the most about this movie is Céline Dion. I love her music. And she played a huge part in this movie. I thought she was just going to make an appearance for a few seconds, but no. I also feel like she talked about her real life. She talked about Eurovision (which happened in real life) and her own loss (which also happened in real life). I think they couldn’t have found a better person for this role. Also very strange: while I was writing this, Spotify decided to play a Céline Dion song.
If you are a big fan of romance movies, this is a movie you can’t skip. It was a sad movie, but it did not make me cry. Although I was kind of in shock when that accident happened. But overall just a great movie.
