One thing I hear people say a lot of times is that they are tired and they wish they had more energy to do certain things. A lot of people are even feeling exhausted the moment they wake up. But after a night of sleep, you have (and want) to feel energetic. What if I tell you there are ways to feel more energetic during the day? This list contains 9 natural energy boosters. When I started doing these things I started to feel energetic again and suddenly life was easier and it did not only boost my energy but I was feeling a lot happier.
9 Natural Energy Boosters
Get enough quality sleep
Getting enough sleep is step one. Make sure that you know how many hours per night you need to wake up feeling refreshed. Most people need around 7-9 hours per night so stick to that. It is also best to stick to your bedtime every single night, even on the weekends. But you can still feel tired after sleeping many hours, and that is because the quality of your sleep is more important than the actual hours of sleep. In this case, quality sleep means deep sleep. During this part of your sleep, your body heals itself. If you get enough deep sleep you feel refreshed when you wake up. You can sleep deeper by turning off your screens in the evening and exercising during the day.
Exercise
Most of the time exercising does not sound like a lot of fun when you are tired, but it is a game changer. Every time you feel tired, get up and start doing something. You don’t have to hit the gym when you are tired, just a short walk or just cleaning your apartment is fine too. And suddenly you will have more energy. This is why I recommend moving your body in the morning. One thing I like to do is to turn the music on in the morning and just dance and clean a little bit.
Cold Showers
A lot of people love this and take cold showers every single morning. I am going to be honest and say that I am not the biggest thing and I really prefer warmer showers. But apparently, it is good for your blood circulation and it will give you more energy. Research shows that taking cold showers has a lot of benefits for your health. So if you are brave enough (especially during the colder months), you can always try this.
Avoid stress
Stress uses up a lot of your energy. That is why you are feeling more tired on stressful days. Find ways to eliminate your stress, feeling stressed every single day does a lot of harm to your health. Not only you will feel more tired, you sleep worse, you get sick faster than usual and it is not great for your mental health. To reduce stress I would recommend finding things that you love to do and doing those things more often and at the same time work on your mindset. Train your brain to see the good things more often. Not easy when you are used to feeling stressed, but definitely worth it.
Breath
We never really think about this, because it happens naturally (to most of us). When you are stressed, you breathe more shallowly, while it is better for your energy levels to breathe in deeper. You can train this by practicing this for ten minutes every single day. Or when you are waiting for something. There are also YouTube videos that might help you. When I was dealing with panic attacks, I used this YouTube video to breathe deeper.
Food
Some foods give us more energy and others don’t. Try to eat healthier, so more veggies and fruit instead of things that contain a lot of sugar. Sugar might give you a short energy boost, but after that the sugar crash comes and you will even worse than before. Pick a fruit instead. Yes, fruit also contains sugar but those are natural and it definitely contains a lot less than candy or crisps.
Go outside
This tip is definitely more for the colder months when you prefer to stay inside and warm instead of going out into the cold weather. But your body wakes up because of the light. So go outside in the morning. Go out for a walk and enjoy the natural sunlight. Even when the sun is not shining it is important to go outside. It still has some sort of an effect on your body/mind.
Drink water
Sometimes we forget to drink enough water during the day, but our body really needs it. Did you know that if you are dehydrated you can feel more tired, and can experience headaches? My best tip is to bring a water bottle with you everywhere you go. And if you are really struggling with drinking enough water, set a timer every 30 minutes or so to take a sip from your water bottle.
Do something that you love
When you do something you really love or spend around people you love, you can suddenly feel more energetic. I can be feeling tired but as soon I turn on the music I can suddenly have more energy. Everyone has that one hobby or thing they love to do that gives them energy. Find out what those things for you are and do those things more often. It can be simple like listening to your favorite music, going to see your favorite sports team play, or watching a comedy movie
